OT the music/bands thread
hi. reading through the movies thread I was thinking "well why not start a music thread". I actually wanted to make that thread way earlier but I think I forgot this one for some reasons. anyway here we can have discussions/convos about music and bands you like listening to.
I'll start it: as some of you might have known yet, I love the band Interpol. I know that one of the posters here likes them as well (was it B Calrissian?) so if that's the case I hope we can discuss a bit about them.
and I'd like to throw some other names around that I really enjoy listening to:
eagles of death metal
queens of the stone age
fu manchu
arctic monkeys
metallica
johnny cash
the hives
mando diao (if someone knows them)
shout out louds (same as mando diao)
and talking about music styles: actually almost any kinds of rock (except maybe that new metal/crossover crap) and some black music as well
now it's your turn

what's up with rage against the machine? I've heard they want to reunite?! is that true? it was said that they want to reunite for one concert but IIRC I saw them playing more gigs. does anyone know further stuff? I wish I could see them once in my life because back then I was too young to attend concerts
@ dr.krapinsky: do silverchair play again as well? my sister used to be a dedicated fan of them but after the singer (daniel jones/johns right?) suffered a serious disease I read that he actually had no plans to keep doing the silverchair project. instead he started a new one which was said to be really bad but I haven't heard anything yet.

I'd like to hear more interpol and arctic monkeys, but I really like Metallica...some of my favorite groups:
Blaqk Audio
Covenant
Sanagi
Powerman 5000
A lot of various electronica or remixes I find online that aren't really from any particular established artist.
select songs from:
Eric Prydz
KMFDM
Panzer AG
Dio
Whitesnake (what can I say? It's Whitesnake)
In Flames
Hellogoodbye
Hate Dept.
Godhead
Beck
Fido X
Modest Mouse
Stevie Wonder
Gorillaz
Kansas
Muse
The Qualia (pretty much just Nevada's Greatest Man, not a big fan of the rest)
Finger Eleven
Seabound
Zeromancer (mainly Dr. Online)
My guess is very few people will identify with most of my favorite music...I like a lot of industrial, electronica, techno, some 80's hair metal, some new metal that I didn't list here, classic rock, with a smattering of some rap and hip hop.

Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Rage Agaisnt the Machine did reunite. They headliend the Coachella Music festival last year. THey also played shows in San Fran and the Vegoose festival over Halloween. No word yet on a new album. I was fortunate to see them twice before they broke up- once at the Target Center, and once at the Tibetan Freedom Festival in Alpine Valley, WI.
Silverchair? I heard rumblings about them doing something- playing shows in AU maybe(?), but haven't heard yet on whether there's a plan for a new album.

the RATM stuff seems to be cool. iirc I read that they plan to have some gigs here in germany this summer
and about silverchair I'm not sure who it was but I guess it was scottyo50 who saw them live recently
edit: lol my itunes happens to play silverchair right now. fate?

Anybody listen to Tapes n' Tapes, Hockey Night, or The Plastic Constellations?
my focus in the past few months in terms of music was more in europe (especially swedish bands - they seem to grow on trees)
the only bands I can say I used to listen to that are in the "area" of minnesota were a few bands from ontario, canada (I know that's a huge stretch)

I'm not that much into the 80's stuff. I really have a dislike to the 80's and I dunno why.
after watching the latest quentin tarantino movie (death proof) I bought the soundtrack and I started listening to some 70's music. that's really cool IMO

no I'm serious. I can recall a few sources that said he always tried to set a foot on the american market but he didn't succeed so far
haven't you ever listen to one of his songs? here in Brasil his songs are popular... maybe in the usa you guys have better things to listen...
