Is the idea of having Camby play alongside Al enough to make the Wolves management take on some extra salary through a swap based around Camby for Theo to enable the Nets to get pretty much all expiring deals for Kidd?

Age and its fit with the apparent development of the Wolves young guys and the money that he makes with the cap position make it not quite the perfect fit from that perspective despite Camby having everything that the Wolves need from a playing point of view.

I.e. always hurt and nothing much but a expiring contract.
Although his salary isn't that bad.

Now THAT'S thinking outside the box, too!

First, I should probably say that I'm not sure DEN can afford to do this, with Nene gone. But let's say they think K-Mart's recent play is enough, and they have bigger problems at PG ..

I'm pretty cheap, and I am almost always against bringing in an older vet at this point. It seems to me that we are too far away from contending to justify droping $10 mil+ on anyone. I look at Ratliff's expiring paying for our 1st, and bringing back Gomes, and also being part of money we'd use for a free agent in Summer of 2009. That's a lot.

However, I don't think there is any better fit than Camby. A defensive center? Last year he was the NBA's defensive player of the year. Shot blocker? One of the best in the league. Help on the boards? Again, one of the best in the league. He can score a little too!

Of course though, I am concerned with Cotton Camby's injury history, particularly as he gets older. In his recent years, he's played 29, 29, 72, 66, 56, and 70 games, but he's played every game this year.

The way I see it, the wiser course of action would be to continue the rebuild. However, if someone presented me with that deal, I don't think I'd be strong enough to say "no."

Oh my goodness I'd do this so fast!....

Camby would be a great teacher for anyone we wanted to bring in as the future center.

He is prolly better than any free agent we'd be able to get in 09 anyways...

He is at the top of his game right now, has a passable jumper to stretch the D, has all the intangibles and is just plain clutch. I'd do this deal at the end of the year, because I don't want to win that much, and with Camby on our team + Foye we could be an above .500 team...

I would love Camby on this team...like when our players that we have now are two years ahead of where they are now. And Camby stays the same age. He'll be too old to do any real service by the time we'll be able to call ourselves a really good team. If Camby was a few years younger...and less injured prone, or the Pups were further along in their development I would say a big Yes. I am a huge Camby fan, but despite the type of player he is, I don't think he fits in here. I can't believe I'm saying that considering we don't have a good center. Theo can play a similar role....but he's broke down...hmm, I wonder how Camby will end up?

Camby now would help, but he's not the type of player we need now since we're not a Camby-type away from contending.

I know Kidd wants to go to Dallas and I'm sure Dallas would be willing to deal. I'd like to see us get in and get Diop sent to us and we send out something like Smith, Green, and Boston's pick next year.
