Somebody Has to Score On a Bad Team

Post#1 » by Woo311 » Tue Jan 29, 2008 7:28 pm

This is generally true because you can't constantly double team players on the perimeter, so a guard or a very athletic small forward can run around and find decent shots. But this rule of thumb doesn't apply to post players because it is easy to double and triple team on the block and since he constantly runs into the teeth of the defense, this makes his play all that more impressive. This is definitely not a mirage.

If the front office could pair him with a player like JJ Reddick that could just spot up on the 3 point line, we could easily score 100 points a night.

theoretically I see your point - spread the floor... but JJ Redick is the answer?

You don't lose the kind of touch he has. He doesn't get much playing time in Orlando and should be available before the trade deadline or this summer.

I'll take him, but I don't think he'd get any more playing time than Green, who's also basically a deadly 3 point shooter and little more. Plus McCants is a terrific 3 point shooter, 43% right now.

If the Wolves could somehow trade Gerald Green for JJ, I think it would be a good deal. But until the Wolves start weeding out guys like Jaric and Buckner, I just can't see the playing time being that much better.

Jaric should get playing time. He is a decent player that fits in well with the rest of the team. It is not his fault that Green doesn't get many minutes. Where would JJ get minutes on this team? We have two decent 3 point shooters (McCants, Jaric) that do more than shoot. Therefore they would get minutes ahead of players like Green or JJ. Buckner does not play much so why would him being on the team matter? Plus his contract is up after next season.

Heres a link for your 1st sentence of response.

Look at the "up and down" of his stats for January alone. I would argue that is not good for this team. Not to mention he won't be a part of Wolves playoff team.

Why not develop a younger guy then hoping that is the night "good marko" shows up.

Your right those stats prove that Jaric should not get playing time because they clearly show that he doesn't play good defense and doesn't fit well with the youth.

Does Green play defense and play a team oriented role? Absolutely not. So who is it that you think we should be developing? Do you think we should have 5 young guys out there all making mistakes? McCants got less playing time earlier this season for not playing team ball and he changed his game. Green should have done the same.

That doesn't even matter. Do you play a veteran on a bad team just because hes getting paid? He fits, great, bring him off the bench. Play him 15 minutes a game. Don't play him 30.

How much he gets paid has nothing to do with how much playing time he gets. I don't know if you watch the Wolves much but up until three days ago we only had two pgs that could play(Bassy/Jaric). I am sure he will play less minutes once Foye gets back into gear. I still don't see what your point is.. Who would you rather see get minutes in place of Jaric?
