Because N.O. has the best record in the West and we have the worst?

Is it fair for you? Why don't they play the best team in the West against the best of the East?

FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF TOT APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
.478 .313 .833 2.6 6.7 9.4 2.4 .73 1.27 1.95 2.5 19.6 west
.496 .0 .709 4.1 8.2 12.2 1.3 1. 1.38 2.02 2.7 21.2 big al

the stats are pretty similar though i give the edge to al stats wise. Like klomp said the success of NO makes up for the stats difference between the 2

Yep, it's team success...Jefferson will make it next season.

no, he won't he will join bibby as the best non-all stars ever. al can have 25 a game and they'd let LMA in before him.

Nah, Al probably wouldn't go overlooked if the Wolves had even 15-18 wins. 20 wins would make Al a lock.

If you don't win you don't get crap. Big Al and Craigers didn't make it cause the wolves are the garbage of the NBA. Nobody pays attention to this team.

I never expected him to make it. He's getting recognition atleast as a possible snub. If he continues his rate of progression from year to year I dont think there's any doubt that he's in next year.

It would be pretty silly for anybody to have expected him to make it. He's a good player, chances are he'll get in a few times in his career, don't worry about it.

If he continues to progress, there's no doubt that he'll make it next year. I don't buy into all that "if your team sucks, you shouldn't get into the ASG" business. If that's the case, why is Wade even mentioned in the same talks as real all stars?

The whole thing gets me heated. The fact that Roy got in before Baron sent me over the edge.

Whatever. It's just a game.

Whatever. It's just a popularity contest.

Wade would probably be an all star if he only played one game so far this year.

though I hate it that he doesn't get the recognition he should get I don't give a damn about it at all because a) the ASG became a joke to me in the past few years and b) there's always the possibility to get hurt in the ASG and the last thing I'd want is big al getting hurt in a game that doesn't mean anything at all

FWIW, the same thing happened to Chris Kaman...

It isn't great but there was a lot of talent in the West this year and West is a 19/9 guy who's shooting 48% from the floor and has a lot more range than Jefferson, so from a coach's standpoint, if you're looking at a guy who posts comparable numbers (obviously, Al is the superior rebounder) but whose style makes him a more valuable player, you go with that guy and that's West.

Al will get his in time.

You really think it's that, and not team success?

No, no, I think team success is a fairly obvious component which was why I mentioned Kaman at the opening of my post.

My point was that even if their records were similar, it's entirely possible that Jefferson would have been omitted from the team in favor of West, regardless of merit. This year, there are more than 12 All-Stars in each conference but you can't put more than 12 on either roster, so people get left off and sometimes there are reasonable criteria involved.
