Anyone want to trade Theo and get someone who can help or picks?
Wally is available! How about Wally and a 1st for Theo?
Imagine Wally without KG. Just an idea, I know I am going to get ripped but I miss wally and that silky J

I don't think any of us have the power to trade Theo Ratliff.

I don't see a lot of deals for Theo that would help us. I was trying to think who has a young player that could be great for us and they're in such cap hell that they'd be willing to move them.
I'd consider Wally for Theo if we got some serious sweetner for having to wait another year for the big expiring contract.
Wally, Sene, and the two 1st rounders they got from Phoenix for Theo and Green might interest me.
The only problem is that it probably hinders Glen from opening the check book up for Telfair and Gomes extensions.

Gomes > phoenix for atlanta's 1st
Wally/phoenix 1st/plus young talented big for Ratliff/Buckner/miami 2nd rounder
this would leave us with a
top 4 pick - franchise player
16th pick - for a good centre
28th pick - for another centre

Trading Ratliff is more or less out of the question because of finances. Wolves need him to expire to stay under the lux next season (and to have any hope of resigning Gomes, Smith, and Telfair.)

easily fixed
draft rose - we dont need telfair Foye can play the pg when rose isnt out there
Gomes would be traded for atl pick so no need to re-sign him
Smith - is the hard one we could always draft Dorsey too replace him
Thabeet=15th pick
Rose = top 4
Jawai = 28th
Dorsey = minne 2nd
C-Thabeet/Jawai/Seattle's big/Richard
PF-Jefferson/Dorsey/Madsen
SF-Mccants/Walker/Brewer
SG-Foye/Wally
PG-Rose/Jaric

That's not entirely in the Wolves control. You can't bank on getting a specific player in the draft.

Wolves aren't likely to be in a possition to draft. Rose. You're putting way too much thought into that. The Wolves are going to roll with -most- of the pieces they have now. They're not going to rebuild again a year after rebuilding.

rebuilding isnt something u do in a year it took the bulls 7 years before they found the right mix yet u think our roster is good enougn now with such a crap record ????
its nice that Gomes is putting up some points and rebounds but we need a centre and if trading Gomes gets us Thabeet or another decent centre im all for it
and what makes u think we are good enough too get out of that bottom 4 i think your overrating the team plus theres always Bayless and augustine

Yeah, clearly the Bulls made the right moves. Trade Brand, trade Chandler. That's what we want to model a rebuild after.

I think we'd seriously regret it if Bassy wasn't re-signed. He's beginning to show why he was so hyped coming out of high school. He makes everyone else play better when he's on the floor. That's the primary job of a point guard, and Foye hasn't proven that he can do that yet.

When Bassy circled the floor, ran the baseline, and kicked it to (either Craig or Al I can't remember) during the Rockets game, it showed me that he is improving. He's got a place here. I hope he is resigned. Foye (and McCants) in that situation would have driven the lane and gotten an offensive foul called.

good point.
If you had asked me 4 weeks ago if we'd make a qualifying offer for Telfair, I'd have said, "No way!" Not only do we need foye to step in as a PG, but the best player available when we make our draft pick could very well be a PG as well. Pay $3.4 mil for another PG? Not going to happen.
But Telfair's been showing a lot lately. We wouldn't have been able to hang with Houston Monday without him. 12 Assists and 0 turnovers? I'm sure there are star PG's that have never put up a line like that.
I truly hope we can find the money to keep Telfair next season. I don't know if it makes sense for our roster, but this kid can be great.

If he can be great, then it makes sense for the roster.
I agree with you. A month ago I was not a fan of Bassy. Now I think he and Gomes have to stay.

We definitely need to keep Telfair. I think he's finally developing now that he's had some consistent minutes. Plus, he's still very young. As far as quickness and passing skills, he's there. If he can develop a jumper and finish better he's going to be very good.
Even if his jumper doesn't quite come along, if he's got a consistent scorer at the 2 to go along with Al and Gomes offense that should be enough, since we don't need or probably want a starting lineup of 20 ppg scorers since there's not enough balls for that.

I honestly say we keep bassy and move foye to the 2....Mccants hasn't showed me much consistency so he can either come off the bench or be traded....

I agree that Bassy with a jump shot would be good and that you have to try and resign him.
His biggest drawback is that he either shoots 50%+ in games or he is in the 20% range.If he could just raise the lower end of his range so that on bad days he is hitting 35% that would be great.
His second year in the league he shot 35% from 3pt as compared to his 24% this season and if he could rediscover that sort of shooting from deep that would help make him a lot more useful

At the beginning of the season, I thought Telfair didn't even belong in the league. But I agree with you guys, he has shown flashes of being an incredible distributor. His size doesn't really allow him to drive and shoot much without being swatted, but his vision and passing skills are there.
I think the Wolves have to let Ratliff expire, and use the $ to resign Gomes, Telfair, and Smith. All could three could probably be had for not much more per season than Theo, right? I really can't see the demand for any of those players being very high.
I also disagree with the notion of trading Gomes (a known commodity) or Telfair or Smith (too young to properly evaluate) at this point, especially for picks. We have what, 4 first round picks in the next two years? I say sign these three to relatively cheap, 3-year deals. Give them a year or two to gel with Brewer, Foye, and McCants while drafting solely for skill - and hopefully either someone we have or someone we draft can be the star compliment to Al.
Here are your building blocks:
PG: Foye/Telfair
SG: McCants/Brewer
SF: Gomes/Smith
PF: Jefferson
+2 High Firsts, possibly using the extra picks to trade up if necessary
If any of these guys don't mesh or can't cut it in the next 2 years, THEN you trade...thoughts?

I totally agree with this man right here.
Why do people want to trade Gomes so bad? He can play inside-out, switch from SF to PF if need be, and I love this stud.
Also, people are so quick to deal Smith. He isn't complaining, he's being productive in limited minutes and he's only in his second year! You don't see Charlotte fans trying to trade Chris Dudley just because he can't play next to Wallace; HES HIS BACKUP! Craig is Jefferson's backup, and that is a pretty good person to have playing behind you, I think Jefferson agrees with me.
Telfair is a must re-sign, Foye should be moved to SG and McCants should be the first player off the bench, the rotation should be like this with the guards.
Telfair
Foye - Starters
Sub in McCants, Move Foye to Point
Foye
McCants
Telfair with around 29 minutes total
Foye with 32 minutes total
McCants with 29 minutes total
Foye - 16 minutes at SG with Telfair, 16 minutes at PG with McCants
McCants - 29 minutes at Shooting gaurd
Telfair - 29 minutes at Point
I forgot Jaric, so he can have 6 minutes at G and around 14 minutes at F.
Everyone is happy. Sorry if that was confusing.
Of course, there should be no set times for players; if they are doing well, then you leave them in unless they tire out. Jaric is the piece that doesn't fit with the puzzle, but Mchale thinks we are "Too young", so Jaric might be here until his contract expires.
