question from a c's fan
is Rashad Mccants on the block? I was wondering if he was hurt last night because he didnt get a lot of tick even though he was making things happen out there. i saw wittman getting in his ass a bit during the 3rd or 4th and he kept walking right by him. So is he on the block or something? And if he is who would u guys want for him? I dont watch him too much, i have watched a few Minny games this yr and if you could pry Jarrett Jack from Portland for him or Jarrett and Frye that maybe interesting. Or a big to play next to AL, or maybe another two guard. I dunno any thoughts? Or am I reading into the Wittman Rashad relationship?

well....his trade value diminished quite a bit after the nationwide coverage of his attitude problems. The problem with McCants is he thinks he is best player on the team and deserves to touch the ball (and keep it) every time down the floor. He has gotten better with his consistency recently, but the concerns about his attitude that prevented him from going higher in the draft are really and are a distraction, especially for a young team.
If we could get a big or a mid'1st for him, I think we would take it. If we could do something like Smith and McCants for Webster (or Jack) and Frye...I would be all over it.

the guy just has a terrible attitude that keeps him from earning more PT at crucial parts of games..when wittman said that guys need to work harder and started getting loud during a timeout, rashad leaned back, sighed and rolled his eyes..his being a douchebag seems to be holding him back from being a bigtime scorer on a nightly basis, and i honestly have no problems with wittman benching him until he changes
as for him possibly being traded, i dont think theres any chance of that unless the wolves for some odd reason choose to go after a star perimeter player, which couldnt possibly be more unlikely

I can tell Wittman really likes this kid; why would Wittman yell at McCants and get on his case more than anyone on the team, and still give him another shot to prove himself instead of just benching him like he would to Gerald?
Wittman sees something in this kid and is seeing if he has what it takes to break through from the constant nagging of his coach, playing with foul trouble, and can he learn from his mistakes.
McCants is one of those key players for us and in the future, I doubt he is on the block, Mchale has said he likes Rashad and he is part of the youth movement.

Witt likes him.
That was after fouling PP with 2 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.
And then Shad did something Witt didn't like again and sat the rest of the game. I think that was after the weird sequence where it looked like the Wolves got a TO but Posey beat Shad to the ball or something.
Why else would Witt get mad? Maybe because he doesn't want to play a player who doesn't listen, but needs Shad's scoring or is being forced to play him by higher ups? Pure speculation, I hope you're right, but who knows.

wittman is a crap coach imo hes awful why would u draw up a 3 point play for Jaric at the end of the last
u gotta get it down low to jefferson at all costs
also hes rotation is horrible

Perhaps both... although Wittman is such a member of the Wolves' Good Ole Boys club, I would think it's more that he needs Shad than Wittman having his hand forced by McHale.
It's not like there's a ton of other perimeter threats on this team. I actually think they Wolves need McCants' shooting more than his scoring, but either way Wittman is in a catch-22 with McCants: he's obviously most effective as a starter, but he tends to drift on D and shows his displeasure with the coaching staff in an unprofessional manner. So if Wittman wants to reward effort with playing time, he's guaranteeing himself losses... I say if someone brings an offer for McCants, take it. IMO the future backcourt is Brewer and Foye anyway.

Witt is not a great coach, but he is good for working with our young guys. Get off his jock.
McCants has great potential. Great ability to get a good shot off and often times makes that shot. He needs to mature and season, but he should be kept around. At worst he is a shooter off the bench.
