Still winning and making history.

El-Amin led Turk Telecom to the finals in the Turkish Cup this past weekend. A three day tournament of the top teams in the TBL. Not sure of the first two game stats, but had 25 points in the third game which led to a victory for the team and MVP salute. Turk Telecom had not won the Cup in over 30 years.

He was a Minnesota high school star who (I believe) has been in camp with the Wolves before. I for one welcome the update.

That's what happens when you don't live in Minnesota. I'll edit my post.

i remember his mpls north days and how badly other teams hated the polars. The old coach at my high school still had it out for them after they won the state title sometime in the 80's.

also for confusion: has anyone noticed that both north st.paul and minneapolis north are named the polars and their students call their school just "north". just for the confusion of having 2 "north polars"

When I was like 12, Khalid's Polars were supposed to be the best team in the state and they played a game at Hopkins and the Royals won. They met again later that year in the state tournament, and the Polars won and crushed my 6th grade heart. Both games had a great PG matchup, El-Amin vs. Jared Nuness, who went on to play at Valpo.

Thank Goodness! I am so glad we finally have an Official Khalid El-Amin Update Thread, because those countless UNOFFICIAL Khalid El-Amin Update Threads were getting sooo annoying, clogging up these message boards! ;)

Seriously though, its good to hear about Khalid, so thanks for posting.

You wouldn't have known if I wasn't quoted. I admitted I may have come off ignorant.

I went to the juggernaut that was Hopkins High School. We had Nuness, Kris Humpries, Dan Coleman, Darren Clarke, then Blake Hoffarber after I graduated.

His brother Jordan Nuness plays for the University of MN Duluth basketball team. He transfered from the U. I do the stats at the games. He's kinda streaky, but at one point this year he had like 6 3's in a matter of maybe 4 minutes.

I always liked him. It was a huge disappointment for many of us that he didn't go to the U but I was happy to see him win a national title with UConn. Thanks for the update.

At least the Goph's made up for it later and landed another local star in Jefferson's Cole Aldrich. Doh!!!!

Good to hear there are places for chubby PGs to succeed.
