Do you guys regret not getting Iverson?

If the Wolves could have gotten Iverson with Foye as the centerpiece, would you have done it knowing what you know today? It pains me to imagine what an amazing tandem AI and KG would have been.
Don't get me wrong...I like the direction the team is headed in BUT I think KG and AI could have contended for a title. Put the two guys with the most heart in the NBA on the same team and crazy things happen. (Crazy good things)

knowing that foye would be hampered for most of this season? probably i think that they would need a good small forward for a real shot in the west (kind of like josh howard)

We didn't have the role players. I actually haven't thought about it in a long time.

KG + AI would've been sweet. Wolves didn't have the expiring contracts to get it done, though.

I'm sure I am in the minority on this but I was glad the AI deal fell through and I'm still glad. I don't think AI would have been enough to win a title and we would still be in the same financially-strapped, talent-poor purgatory that we had been in for years. I think the rebuild was the proper move and I am excited for the future of the wolves for the first time in a long time.

At the time I was in the minority and believed that Foye in fact was offered, but we didnt have the other pieces to get it done. IIRC the majority of posters here thought Foye was off the table.
In retrospect, it could be that McHale was already leaning toward trading KG, and if so, then it makes sense that he didnt make a whole-hearted attempt at landing AI.
At the time I was upset we couldnt get it done cause you're right, you put two guys like AI and KG together, you'd go a long way even with limited role players around them. But now, I have to admit, I like the direction the franchise is heading.

Keep in mind that the Brewer pick was most likely in the deal too.

I wanted AI real bad at the time and when Jim Gray went on ESPN and said AI told him "I'm going to Minnesota" I was exuberant.
I don't regret it because its not a decision I made but I sure wished we could've worked something out.

Iverson is one of my favorite players (more so when I was younger), so I felt the same way.

At the time the trade was being discussed, the thought of trading KG never even crossed my mind. I had mixed feelings about giving up on Foye, but at the same time I wanted the front office to do whatever it took to get KG a championship.
In hindsight- after witnessing how strong the western conference is, I'm happy with the decision to hold on to Foye becaue a KG-AI combo without a supporting cast wouldn't have been enough to win the title.

I would have made that trade... KG and AI would have been a great tandem. It isn't easy to get more than one elite player on a team at the same time, plus I think professional teams should always play to win now.

couldn't have happened since we owe(d) this pick to the clips already

At the time i was mad cause the wolves were like the 8th seed in the playoffs.
Now with the latest moves, we'd have no trade assets to get a 3rd liable player with KG and AI, that we'd just spin the tires in the mud
