Would you trade for Ben Wallace if...

...we just had to give up Walker and Jaric?
Next year we save about a million and a half.
The following season 'Toine comes off the books so Ben's number double's up Jaric's.
But the third season, Ben is off and Marko is still signed for $7.6 million.
Not sure how Wallace would feel about playing with the young pups, and quite frankly I cant imagine Chicago would be this desperate to move him. But for MN, this is the one and only scenario I would support us getting Wallace.

I think I would but only in that scenario. It's kind of a salary neutral in that we would have Walker's money an extra year, but lose a year of Jaric's salary, so I could justify it that way.
Wallace is not close to what he was, but this move would allow a few things:
-We become less heavy at the 1-3 with Jaric gone so Foye, Telfair, Brewer, McCants, and Gomes all get more minutes there. Which is a positive.
-We become a little more solid upfront.
-Al can play PF
-With Walker gone more minutes can go to Smith.
PG: Telfair, Foye
SG: Foye, McCants
SF: Gomes, Brewer
PF: Al, Smith
C: Wallace, Richard
Better balance of minutes, IMO.

I'm somewhat in favor of this sort of swap simply because Ben becomes a huge expiring in 09-2010. This expiring could have more value than actual cap space if we build correctly. MN should be slightly compenstated from CHI for taking Ben imo. I figure MN will have a decent lineup with 3-4 positions filled with very good young prospects...
eg:
C: al (or a future pick)
PF: al (beasly)
SF: brewer (beasly\d. green)
SG: Brewer\McCants\Foye
PG: Foye\telfair(rose\mayo\gordon\bayless)
MN will also have additional assets to couple in the trade for Bens expiring. MN 09, MIA 09, BOS 09, this years 2nd(s). So judging from recent trades MN will have enough liquid assets to aquire an allstar level talent for assets that they are probably letting rot on the bench.
If MN doesn't do anything with Ben's expiring theres always a chance. that...In 2010\11 mn will have something like 30m on the books with the picks, prospects, and Al. In 2010\2011 Lebron has a player option and might be available on the FA market. I'm not sure how appealing a young talent filled MN team would be to LBJ, but he'd certainly have to consider it if he opted out. Since at the very least MN has 3-4 very young studs under the age of 26 and would be in the position to offer him a very good supporting cast for 4-5 years.
e.g.:
Al\Beasly\LBJ\Brewer\Foye
08 center drafted\Al\LBJ\brewer\Foye
etc
A large contract like Ben's makes MN less likely that MN will lock up average players in long term contracts.

I'd do it
but
I have no idea how it will reflect on our salary cap or luxury tax. if we can sign at least 2 of our 3 FA this summer and remain under the tax I'd definitely do it

If the Bulls would do that, that would be a great pickup for Minnesota. Ben would give them what Theo wasn't available to bring.

I would. The Bulls wouldn't.

We could throw in Doleac so they have a replacement at C to sweeten the deal.

I wouldn't even consider this.

If Wallace, Duhon, and Joe Smith for Hughes and Gooden is on the table, I would think Walker and Jaric would have some interest to Chicago.

Wait a second the wolves never do anything of value! We have Al Jefferson and that is it. Come draft night we will add another peice that will make no sense to the roster becuase that is what the wolves front office does

Well, it's a moot point now!
