Opens more playing time for Chris Richard/Craig?
I thought Antoine was happy with his role, I guess he feels the urge to win another championship or be with his buddy Gerald.
BTW I think I will nickname Craig + Al Cookie(s) and Cream. Thoughts?
The floater brothers is nice too. Just a thought.

If he's not boughtout now, I believe he's bought out before the start of next season. I know there's incentive for the Wolves to keep him around so he can be traded as an expiring next year, but if he's willing to give up a certain amount of money, the Wolves probably won't pass it up.
If he is bought out for (pulling a number out of thin air that seems relatively reasonable) 80%, that's almost $2mil more breathing room under the lux for the Wolves next year. Although I think they'd probably be able to keep Bassy, Gomes, and Smith as it stands right now, a little bit further under might mean they can sign also a body at the minimum to spend a little time at C.

if toine really wants out and considers a buyout I wouldn't be surprised if he accepts a real cheap buyout. dunno how much he has left on his contract but it's more than 8 million so I wouldn't be surprised if he accepts a 1 or 2 million buyout

Sham has Walker at $9.0mil next season. By "accepts a 1 or 2 million buyout" I assume you mean accept 7-8mil, leaving 1-2mil on the table, which sounds reasonable considering someone will sign him for the vet minimum. But who knows.

I'm too lazy to go and find it, but like a month ago he made a comment about how he wouldn't be willing to give up much money in a buyout. We'll see.

Bartelstein is the best agent in the business. He won't take a huge discount, and if he does it would probably be bad for the Wolves for political reasons.

I think Walker has more value as an expiring next year to us than buying him out and saving only a couple million. I thought basti meant accepted $1-2 million and left $7-8 million on the table. That'd be my starting negotiation point if he really wants out. I'd be willing to go up but if he really wants out, put up or shut up.

If you believe you can use him to get a good player in a trade you keep him, if you don't want to do that you buy him out for as little as you can.

I don't really care. Toine doesn't want to be here then get him out. He is my least favorite wolf anyways.

Here's an important post on the teams that are likely to be under the salary cap far enough to be a player in signing free agents for more than the MLE. This has an effect on how much trade value other teams may put on obtaining Walker's expiring because their summer moves will help establish the market value for talent.

Yeah I agree with this.... when was the last time MN used an expiring contract to improve the team? Brandon for Spree?
But still, I'm awfully sick and tired of these spoiled bastards asking for "buyouts" when they really dont take much of a hit at all. IMO if a guy wants a buyout - especially someone with at least a year left on his deal - the starting point should be 50% of his contract. You dont want to take that hit? Fine, shut your mouth and come to work. Nothing pisses me off more than someone saying "I want a buyout but I dont want to give up much salary". F*** you then, shut up and do your job.
Which of us can go to our employer and say "I want to go work somewhere else. Give me 90% of my next two years salary and I'll walk away".
Really, I dont have a problem with someone sacraficing a good chunk of salary to be bought out. Its the guys that want it both ways that piss me off. And more often than not, the team gives in for some reason.

I totally agree. It's like all these players feel entitled to be on a playoff team and if the team their on isn't they're owed their full contract and the chance to go to the team of their chosing. If they're willing to sacrifice salary, then fine, but otherwise you can't have it both ways.

yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you guys said. Walker is being a doofus. What playoff team would give him any minutes let alone more minutes than MN has?
Juwon Howard's deal should be the template for any buyout negotiation. Howard accepted 10M out of 14M in his buyout, 70% of his salary. If Toine takes a prorated portion for this season and around 6.5M (70% of his 9M next year) then maybe there would be something to talk about. Though, I think I'd rather hang on to his and Buck's expirings and see if we can't make a trade this time next year.

I think the wolves will and should buy out antoine walker. A 3.5 million a year offer for next season should do it..
