Getting rid of Jaric's contract would be nice. But not at the cost of Brewer and the swapping of the picks.

You'd do better trading Odom to a team that actually wants him. MIN's certainly not giving up two lottery picks for him.
Incidently, Griffin's dead.

Still, the Wolves pass on this easily. Brewer is seen as part of the young core. Not necessarily untouchable but there is no need for MN to give up their 2007 lottery pick and what might be a 2009 lottery pick for a pricey veteran. This is the type of move a team makes to put them over the top, and MN isnt there yet.

I understand, but the Eddie slip was going to get tagged regardless.
It was just too easy.
I was in the middle of composing my reply when two comments snuck in. That's what I get for checking my movie references before I post...

lol, I wouldn't trade Brewer for Odom straight up, and you want to swap picks too? No thanks. Outside of Kobe, Bynum, and Pau, I don't think the Lakers have what it takes to get Brewer.

Actually, I don't think that's a terrible trade if MN's pick in 2009 isn't lottery. The problem is that technically the Clippers still have the rights to that pick, unless it's top 10, but we couldn't trade it as a top 10 pick until we've actually used it on the player, so we couldn't do it in the offseason.

replace odom with bynum and we can talk but I know this won't happen so forget the whole idea.
your pick will be useless next year anyway

I also realized that the Lakers can't trade their 2009 pick in the offseason either as it would be back to back years due to the Gasol trade.
If the picks weren't included(which currently they couldn't in the scenario listed) I'd be interested as Odom expires next year and the only real value we'd give up is Brewer. We'd be able to clear two roster spots for this years draft picks and have two large expirings in Walker and Odom.
Don't see why the Lakers would do it without a decent pick though.

Yep, our #1 this year for Bynum is the deal I'd be interested in.

I like Odom. Isn't he unrestricted after next year? It might be better for the Wolves to take a shot at him then.
