hey fellow wolves fans. there is a thread on the general nba board by a sonics fan who tries to reach out to as many (other than sonics) fans as possible. actually it's too much for me to write it what he wrote so I try it say it in short.

he's trying to make us and others to write their respective owners to encourage them to vote for the sonics to remain in seattle. on april 17 there's a vote/poll among nba owners if I understood it right. we as fans can try to contact them and try to convince them to keep the sonics in seattle. why should we do that? well 1st the sonics have tradition. 40 years aren't something to wipe away so easily. and 2nd I think if they move to OKC I assume the sonics will be put into another division and I want the sonics to remain in the NW division. why? probably to keep or improve the rivalry among the teams in there because at least 3 of them are young and about to become a powerhouse if everything turns out well. it should be fun to watch. yeah we could go the easy way by having one competitor less but you don't know which team might be put into the NW division after the sonics might leave and I'd rather have a lil certainty about who we're going to compete against the next years.

I live here in OKC and even I can't support whats going on with this situation. I would love to have the chance to see my wolves an extra two times a year but not at Seattles expense. Either way it goes you will neve find me cheering them on. Im true blue

Another question. If you had the money, would you even WANT to be an NBA owner? It sounds great up front, but you'd have to be able to ignore constant criticism and death threats.

I think the GMs take most of the heat. That is, unless you have *ahem* an outspoken owner that doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut.

Hell yeah it could happen. Remember when the Wolves almost went to New Orleans before Stern blocked it and Taylor bought the team?

If I had that kind of money I'd probably buy the wolves. Would be the best toy ever. I'd do whatever I could to make my team a contender. Basically be a more laid back, less visible, Mark Cuban.

The Sonics are in our division. They might land Rose in the draft. I don't want to deal with Rose and Durant for the next ten years. I tell ya what, if the sonics give us their first rounder then I'll right ten letter to Taylor. I'll even seal them with my blood.

Just kidding. I really don't want to deal with Rose and Durrant for the next decade but I can't support the crap that is going on with Clay. It just feels like what he is doing is a slap in the face.

Sonics belong in Seattle. Period.

I wouldn't necessarily look forward to a Rose/Durant combo in our division but, really, if the idea is to win a championship (and I think that's the idea), then we need to put together a team that can beat anybody whether they are in our division or not.

Wolves wont leave Minnesota for a long time, especially after the renovations to Target Center, its still a really nice arena, nice location, nice seats, scoreboard etc.

In terms of seattle, selfishly I dont want to potentially deal with Green Durant and Rose or Durant Beasley and Green, much less deal with Oden Aldridge and Roy for the next 10, 12 years.

But it wouldnt seem right if Seattle didnt have a team.

Even if the Sonics move to Oklahoma City, they will still be in our division until the NBA decides for realignment, and that could be 10 years.

oh I didn't know that. I thought I read somewhere that a realignment would take place. but on the other hand it wouldn't make sense anyway. the 3 texan teams and nawlins are bound to play in the SW division. memphis and OKC would be a toss-up and since that wouldn't bring anything I guess the league office won't change anything

you could argue that Golden state could be thrown into our division and give OKC to the west..since thats south and so's the other teams.

I would become a Wolves fan again if Taylor sells the team.

I guess it would rather happen that the kings would play in the NW division because they aren't as close to the pacific as Oakland is and not as south as Phoenix is

all in all I guess there wouldn't be any changes because it wouldn't make anything that mich better IMO

You could argue that Minnesota belongs in the central division with Chicago, Milwaukee, Indiana, and Detroit, too.

I never really thought about it, but if SEA moves, then is MIN the most disadvantaged team, having to travel the farthest (sometimes two time zones!) to play teams in its own division?

Imagine finding the geographic midpoint for each of the divisions. For the NW, that point is probably somewhere near DEN .. perhaps southern Wyoming. Then calculate the distance from that midpoint to each city. Will MIN be the biggest?

Anyone got some familiarity with linear programming out there that can investigate this?

I agree with Shrink, the Wolves should move to Nebraska for more geographically friendly flight plans
