I live in Seattle and I can tell you that its a very sad day for the Seattle sports fan. Unfortunately, there is more people in Seattle that want to see our tax money go towards useless sculpture parks rather than a sports arena.

Sonics fans are still hoping that Steve Balmer will come through with an offer that will give the OKC boys some profit and the city will get the team back, but its looking bleek.

At least my main team is staying put, I don't what I would do if the twolves had to go through the same situation.

Thats a shame really, bright side for me is that means bonus Wolves games without a long drive.I would also consider taking one for the team by finding a way to "neutralize" Durant.

Owners bought these teams with their own money. They are businesses. The owners take the financial risks, do the logisitics, take the public criticisms, and if things work out, they get the financial awards. Its american capitalism at its finest.

Other owners aren't going to vote to limit what they can do with their businesses.

I don't have a problem with that but the owners want it both ways. They want it to be a private corporation with the rights to move wherever but at the same time, they name the teams after the cities or states and want public financing to build their stadiums. We don't build office buildings or warehouses for other companies. If they want complete freedom in a capatalistic environment, then rename the teams to the Starbucks Sonics or the Taylor Corp. Timberwolves and be like any other corporation. If they want public financial involvement, then they should have some responsibility to the cities they get it from.

What's the deal with Target Center? I think Taylor owns it, but did was some of it financed publicly? A larger percentage than other businesses get -- like tax breaks?

I don't understand the financial benefit of moving to OKC, though, at least in the long term. They're going from a top 15 TV market to one in the 40s. This seemed more like a guy wanting his home town to have a pro sports team before they're ready for one, money be damned. I'm glad I'm not one of his silent partners.

out of curiosity because I genuinely don't know this: when people say they lose respect for David Stern because of this, was it his call at all anyway? It sounds like it was the board of governors that OK'ed the moved.
