Would anyone want Flip Saunders back?
If the Pistons go on to lose this series with the Sixers and he inevitably gets fired, would you want the Wolves to look at brining him back? I'm sure he wouldn't mind returning to Minnesota with all the ties he has to this state. The only question is if he feels bitter towards the front office for letting him go in the first place.
Personally I would beg him to return if I were McHale and the crew. Witt should stick with what he's best at, being an assistant coach.

Uggh... He failed before on this position, what makes you think that it's going to be any different?
And don't get me wrong I think that Wittman is even worse than Flip, but why oh why do we need to make the same mistake AGAIN?
Fire Wittman, hire somebody who isn't a failure, doesn't choke in playoffs and can do his job.
Somebody like Carlisle.

I agree that I'd much rather have Carlisle as well (along with a few other candidates). The connection is definitely there, but I'm thinking it's much more probable that we would turn back to Flip, which isn't bad at all in my mind. Despite his shortcomings, I still like him as a coach. I'd especially want them back if we get Rose in the upcoming draft. Flip has given his PGs freedom on the court over the years, and they always produce. That's something I've definitely noticed about his coaching style.

Yeah, I would really like to give Wittman another year. If flip gets canned, sits out a year doing TNT, and Wittman blows it next year, then we can talk. But I still like Flip and think he's a great coach. I don't blame him for Detroit's falters. The East is getting better. Billups, Rip. Prince, Rasheed are getting older. Prince has actually looked like their best player lately, which says a lot.

Agree 100%, and I think his jump-shooting philosphy directly contradicts McHale's philosophy of scoring in the paint, getting to the line, and getting offensive rebounds.
On a side note, in retrospect, I think McHale probably saw those same tendancies in Garnett for a while even before the trade, and finally decided the Wolves couldnt compete for a title with KG as the central figure. Not meant to be a slam on KG or Flip, I'm just saying McHale has a different philosphy on the game than the way those two play/coach.

I've always liked Flip, but I did initially support the decision to let him go. It seemed as though he lost the respect of the team, and the masses were calling for blood.
I would be intrigued at the possibility of getting him back with a young core of players.

Flip did a good job developing McHale's group of young players.
Flip consistently got the team to the play-offs.
Flip lost his job when the team started listening to cancerous Sam Cassell over the coach. I have no problem with the firing (or casey's), because once a coach loses control of his team, then he can't do the job.
However, this is not the same team, and isn't riddled with malcontents, as far as I know. I would welcome back the second most successful coach in Wolves history.

Sweet shrink already made my post. Although, I think Casey got the raw end of the stick.

Thanks, and I agree with this too. I agree that it wasn't fair to casey, and that his defense-oriented style could work here with our young players, and I hope he gets another head coaching job somewhere. I'm not sure there is any coach Ricky Davis, and maybe Blount would listen to. But the important thing was that, at the time, KG had given up on Casey, and that was unacceptable. I understand and agree with replacing him -- kind of something that management had to do since KG > whatever coach, however, I still think casey got the raw end of the stick.

I think Avery would be great...but have we given any sign that we want a good coach?
