Big Al vs Dwight Howard in 2004

A lot of people had Big Al over Dwight Howard back in the draft on these boards.

DH's 5 year contract is worth about 15.8 million per year while Big Al is worth 13 million per year.

As I understand it, when Dwight was in High School, he actually had a very complete perimeter game and compared favorably to Garnett. When he got to the league, though, he bulked up big time and almost completely lost his perimeter game.

To think that he would use that in his game in the NBA is diculous, even if you look at it from a 2004 standpoint. He was lanky, but had broad shoulders and was an athletic freak, you couldn't imagine he'd take you out to the perimeter.

Dwight Howard is on a whole other level. He's in the Chris Paul, LebRon James level for young players.

Big Al's good, there's not many I'd rather have than him, but Howard is one of them.

That was a very interesting read GreatRC...

LOL at Prerak... Telfair? His hype was huge... If he wasn't Marbury's cousin and played in I dunno, Iowa, people wouldn't have even considered him a lotto pick. It is all about exposure, and I think Jefferson didn't have enough of it. I think when you look back on that draft many people are regretting not taking Jefferson earlier. He was a very polished post player( a rarity with young bigs) but were turned off by weight issues and the fact that he posted numbers in a relatively weak state and class.

Ebi did show off his post skills against the super huge 6-9, 275 star junior Al Jefferson this summer at the Nike Peach Jam. Ebi played the big man fairly well on the blocks, swatting Jefferson
