Corey Brewer DPOY Candidate in 4-5 years?

I am mostly a raptors fan, however, i saw Brewer play twice and he seems to be giving NBA shooting guards fits with his length, quickness, and speed. I saw great footwork and i think he could be a potential 1st teamer on the defensive guard spot in maybe 3 years

What do you think? I personally believe he defends as well as some of the first/2nd teamers in the past few years..Hughes specifically

I dont even really think Larry Hughes is that great a defender.

And I doubt that Brew will ever be a DPOY, based on the fact that that award is usually given to big men. In fact I looked it up, since the 96-97 season, the only non-PF/C to get the award was Ron Artest and I believe he does spend a little time at PF here and there.

In 95-96 Gary Payton won it. In total since 82, only 6 non-PF/C players have ever won the DPOY.

I see him as a staple on the 1st/2nd team all defense though. As long as he bulks up a little.

I think he'll defiantly be a multiple time NBA all-defense 1st teamer before him career is over. Great pick by the Wolves, guys like that don'
t come along very often. Too bad the Wolves couldn't get Horford to put next to my favorite player, Big Al

Brewer has always reminded me of a fundamentally sound, higher bball IQ version of Larry Hughes. Hughes is a jump the passing lanes, take risk, unable to keep anyone in front of him type of defender. Brewer actually keeps guys in front of him and has quick hands like Hughes.

He's never going to be a DPOY type of player, but I expect him to make at least one 2nd team all defense.
