I just put together a quick little write-up about Ryan Gomes' future. You can check it out here.

Pretty good summary. I'd say you got it right.

I agree - nice article. I think that the length of Gomes contract will be a question.

I agree that if we get lucky in the lottery, Gomes has a very high chance of being gone. I secretly want us to get the #2 pick and grab Rose, re-sign Gomes, and work from there.

Nice write up dude, you got skills.

I suspect the only way we get Beasley is if we get the #2 pick and the team w/ the #1 pick selects Rose. If we get the #1 pick, we'll take Rose, if we get pick 3 or later Beasley will be gone. So all things considered its not likely we take Beasley, but if by chance we do get the #2 pick and the #1 picking team selects Rose, then we take Beasley and we play this lineup:

C Jefferson
PF Beasley
SF Gomes
SG McCants
PG Foye

even if we start Brewer at SF in the lineup above, or if we go with Al at PF, Beasley at SF, and a center instead, Gomes gets backup SF and PF time and plenty of it because of foul trouble, Brewer still being young and unproven, a center probably being of the stiff variety, Beasley being a rookie, etc. Gomes will find his minutes.

keep Gomes all the way up to the MLE regardless of who we draft, thats my recommendation

I like that line up alot if it was possible. Give em all lots of playtime then next year lots of cap for another Stud. Jefferson fits at Center, Beasley seems like a Power Foward...Small Foward would be very interesting position.

You guys are not that far from being competitive. It's been an amazing rebuilding. Just look at my loved Hawks. Almost 5 years after tearing everything down, only now we're still starting to being competitive (though 37 wins in the East isn't that great). You got better pieces than we did, but the key for any rebuilding team relies on the draft. Had our GM selected D. Williams or CP3, we'd be an elite team. I wish you guys luck and really hope you guys get the top pick, and do well with it. The Heat tanked so much that I'd go crazy if they won it.

I believe we have 3 starters, Jefferson, Foye, and McCants. Gomes can be a starter at SF, or at least split time w/ Brewer, but we need an impact center to be a legit team. Thats why this draft is critical, between all those big men, Lopez twins, Jordan, Koufos, Love, etc, there's a stud big man in there, Wolves need to find out which one that is. Then we can start rounding out the bench and w/ continued development, the Wolves have a chance at a good future

Now all we have to do is convince the Wolves staff that McCants is a starter. I have no idea why they think he should be a 6th man. I hope next year he is in the starting lineup. They are going to need that 3 point threat to open the post up.

As far as Gomes goes. I think just because of what he brings, he'll be re-signed even if we manage to pick up Beasely. There is a possiblity with whoever else we bring taking all the SF/PF/C spots...but I just have a hunch this orginization wants to keep a guy of his character and ability on the roster.
