Will Big Al and Mayo be good enough for team USA?

I think he's already good enough. Personally, I would rather see him sit out that nonsense and start November rested and ready to play.

Unless he positively passes Boozer in reputation I don't see it happening. The reason I say that is because Boozer is a good low post scorer which is Al's forte so it'd be redundant. I do think that Al is better than Bosh and Chandler though.

He was part of the youth they brought in to scrimmage against team USA last summer, along with players like Roy and Iggy. Foye was invited but couldn't participate because of his knee.

Does Foye have what it takes to compete? Kidd and Billups are getting old. Deron Williams and Chris Paul will be the best available PG's for years to come but USA usually has 3. In the future there will be Rondo and Rose so he will have those guys standing in his way. I actually think Rondo and Rose would be a good choice just because they are so good at defense.

You could probably pencil in Rose for the next Olympics. It might be hard for Foye to pass that trifecta.

i needed a good laugh thanks. Foye on the USA team is beyond stupid. I doubt he is a starter in the league in three years let alone USA team

Nah I actually think he is in a good role as a scoring sixth man that still gets over 30 minutes a night. Im just not sold on Foye being the capable starting sg. And we all know he is no pg so that argument is out the door

I don't think you can compare Al with Chandler, they play such different games. Al is definately a better low-post scorer, but I think trading him to the hornets for Tyson would hurt the hornets more than it helped them. Al is not as good a center as Tyson is, but he is a better forward than Tyson. He shouldn't replace him as a Team USA candidate. Plus, I agree with those who would rather have wolves players resting and training during the off-season.

I wasn't suggesting Foye could ever play on team USA, just pointing out the facts. He was invited to scrimmage them, along with Al, Roy, Iggy, Frye, David Lee, Devin Harris, Kapono, Aaron Brooks, and Jeff Green.

I am not saying he is a great PG and of course will likely not be one of USA's 3 PG's (granted Williams and Paul are healthy and want to participate). However, he could always be one of the 3 USA reserves.

As for Al Jefferson, he definitely has the talent to play in the Olympics but there is so many bigs already. I think Big Al possibly make the cut. He of course would come off the bench but a lot of it depends on if Greg Oden really lives up to all the hype. Basically I think he could be the 12th man.

since bosh spent the entire season being injured on and off, itd be wise for him to sit out this summer..that would put al next in line i would think..id love to see him on the court with those guys

Forget everything I said about Foye cuz I will sum it up here. Foye is not good enough to represent USA, he can always help USA by helping them train (like Big Al did).

if USA is lucky, we will have Paul, Williams, and Rose as our PG's in 2012 and that will be enough.

I think Big Al can easily play in 2012.

Jefferson however could possibly be replaced by a good 3 point shooter.

Wade stinks in international play.

I don't think either will ever be on an Olympics squad. The main thing in Foye's favor over guys like Harris, Rose, and Rondo is his 3-pt shooting, but that can be found from the wing positions too.

I also don't think Al will ever make it. Usually in international play, we use smaller lineups with only one true big on the floor most of the time. (The exception was when KG was on the team, but he could guard perimeter players.) We are stacked at bigs with Howard, Oden, Stoudemire, Chandler, Kaman, etc. Last year, Chandler didn't even average double digit points or rebounds last year, but he was on the team for tryouts. Most of these guys are known primarily for their defense, Al is not unfortunately.

Just imagine Chris Paul, Al Jefferson, and Kevin Durant on the floor together for Team USA. The best point guard, most unstoppable low post scorer, and most unstoppable scorer from long range (eventually). That is dream team lite. offensively unstoppable.
