Here's a thought:
New Jersey gives:
Marcus Williams, Maurice Ager and #10
Minnesota gives:
Rashad McCants, #31, #34, Boston's 2009 1st round pick
Why for NJ: They want to shake things up, ideally by moving Vince. The fact that this is a two unproductive guys for one productive guy trade gives them some roster flexibility for any future Vince trade while at the same time gets them younger and possibly, maybe, eventually better at the 2-guard spot. Additionally, the picks give them some pot sweeteners and/or a non-guaranteed contract for next year (I believe they're over the cap so the #31 and #34 may be very attractive to them). It also saves them about 300k in salary next year.
Why for MN: Although it might take a little less to get the #15 from Phoenix, having the #10 pick would enable us to get a guy like Augustin if we don't have a shot at Rose or a big guy like Love or McGee or whomever if we do. At the same time, we open up minutes at a log-jammed spot and move a guy who seems to be on the outs with the coach whom (fans, anyway) we'd rather get rid of but can't. Both contracts we'd be taking on would expire next season so we're really not hurt from a cap standpoint either.

if we put the Miami pick in the pot too, we might get their attention.

I thought about that but decided to hold that one back. Based on the reaction over on their board, we'd have to include it.

Neutral party here. This would be a great trade for MN, and NJ would be fools to be interested. McCants doesn't help a team possibly headed by a quick, shot happy pg and Richard Jefferson (or for that matter with Vince Carter, should they keep him). And the no 10 pick has much more chance of panning out than the second round picks, although the Boston pick does make it more intruiging. NJ should consider itself in semi-rebuild mode (while still trying to keep fans happy and not playing like MN did last year

).
I don't have any reason to dislike him, but I don't think McCants starts for any time really trying to win night in night out. I know he can hit big shots, but he can also your offense, miss 10 straight, and dribble the ball off his knee.

Who would the Wolves be targeting at #10 to make this trade worthwhile?
Unless someone points out a player who will be that much better than Shad, I would pass. There will be some nice options available at #31 & #33 and the BOS pick might be our only pick next year.

I wouldn't do it. I don't like Marcus Williams, and that's quite a hall for the #10 pick. I also really really like our two seconds and I think we should keep them.

I think the Nets can go a bunch of different ways right now, so I think they could put the #10 in play. However, they tend to value Marcus Williams more highly than other teams, so he would be a tough guy to get back (same goes for Sean Williams) in a deal where they feel they get enough. McCants might be too shot-oriented to play with Carter and Jefferson.
That said, NJN is a team we should look at. I think they will try to move Carter or Richard Jefferson this odd-season, and we could use our expirings or picks to serve as a third team to acoomodate this trade. They have extra young big men as well, since they'll try to re-sign Krstic and Diop (if their front office is to be believed), they have Stromile Swift on board for another year, and they also have Sean Williams and Josh Boone, who has had some 15+ rebound games.
I like that you're looking at NJN, because I think that they are one of the most likely teams in the NBA to be trading this summer, and they also have peices that would be appealing, and maybe better fits, on the wolves.

I'm not sure I am a fan of Ager or Williams, they should be coming off their rookie deals awfully soon as well, then what? I also don't think Williams would be better than Telfair at this point. Not to mention, I'd rather keep our Boston pick anyways. This draft seems as if we will be able to nab a good Defensive Center with that 31st pick, and we could possible pick up a project like Riek with the 34th anyways. I just don't really, really, like anyone at the 10 spot....that and I haven't given up on Shad yet.

Good points. I think they'll definitely be active as Carter and/or Jefferson could be traded. I don't think the current deal would appeal to them. I would consider it depending on how our #1 shakes out. If we got Mayo then I could see McCants and 2nd rounders being used for a big like Robin Lopez, McGee, Koufus, even Hibbert that would be picked mid 1st.

Shad alone is worth the pick needed to get almost anyone one of those guys. Even then, I'm more inclined to try to use the picks to make a move.
I think some of their young big guys (other than Williams) may have RFA restrictions like we have. So deals involving those players may have to wait.
Also, I doubt they trade Vince. I get the impression that the NJ owner really likes him, giving him that big contract prior to last season despite reservations from their front office.
