If the Wolves do draft Mayo, which would you prefer?

Wow I love all the activity on this board this has gotta be thread #29343019j3 today lol.

But I dont really see a need for Telfair if we draft Mayo, it saves us money to keep McCants and Mayo can run back up point while McCants plays the 2.

Now if we are planning on shipping McCants out in a package for a big, then we may need to hold on to Telfair.

we've got Jaric regardless, might as well give him some use as the backup PG

Yeah I like a 3 man rotation of Foye-Mayo-Jaric.

Forgot all about Mr.Lima

I love McCants, but if we can get a very good big man either through a draft pick or veteran, he becomes expendable.

Hard to forget about Mr. Lima when he's still got a near untradeable contract.

It is unclear if Bassy will resign. But lets consider value. Either Bassy is here or gone for nothing.

Shad can be dealt for the big we need. Package him with one of the 2nds and walker's expiring for Okafor or Dally perhaps.

Mayo and Foye can play both the 1 and 2 so it really makes no difference. I want to resign Gomes who plays 3 and 4, Brew plays 2 and 3. We could trade Shad, sign a shooting vet pg and role with Jaric also.

Mayo gives us options. Lets be happy.

telfair plays better d and is a team player and distributor.
foye, mayo, mccants is 3 scorers and only 1 ball.

I like the foye, mayo, telfair rotation and like the foye, mayo, jaric rotation even better. I say lets move mccants and miami's 2nd to move up into the late lottery and get a big man.

Play McCants a ton for the first 6-8 weeks, let him average 23 PPG and THEN trade him to get some value.

Mayo doesn't need to start on Day One here, and if we lose a few games playing McCants a bit too much, I think its worth it to get back more in a trade. We're not a likely contender for a ring in 2009 anyway.

Someone has to be dealt + Telfair shouldn't be resigned.

It's a tough choice, because I was really starting to like Bassy.

I think Rev has it right though. Mayo could start at the 2 and backup the point, so a three guard rotation of Mayo/McCants/Foye works offensively. Sort of like Detroits three guard rotation of Billups/Hamilton/Stuckey.

Bassy belongs in Phoenix backing up Nash or in NY with D'Antoni.

Sorry Rev, I think either of those offers (for Okafer or Dally) gets laughed at by Charlotte and Philly. We need to offer more if we want one of those guys.

I do agree with your last comment though...the #3 gives us options. I was afraid of dropping to #5. At #3 maybe somebody will overpay to get Mayo.

Oh, I have GOT to come up with a sign-and-trade that sends Telfair back home to NYK, especially for the moment Marbury is still there. I just wish the Knicks had a legitimate asset.

Mayo, Foye, Telfair.

Foye and Mayo can handle PG, but I'd like one true PG in the mix. Also Telfair is a good defender and you need someone who doesn't need to score to be effective. Deal Shad and Jaric for a bigman.

Since when is Telfair a good defender?

Fine, above average defender.

Regardless I think keeping McCants crowds the SG position too much, especially as I think Gomes is best suited at SF, ideally I'd like to split Brewer between SG and SF.

I'm not sure I even agree with that.

I guess I don't remember any particular times where I thought Bassy was torched and didn't at least put in the effort. Not saying he's a premiere defender though.
