If McHale passes on Mayo I don't know what I'll do. I don't even want to think about that happening.

I'm still freaking out about this. I really had convinced myself we'd pick fifth.

I don't think you need to worry about the Wolves not picking Mayo. Mayo signed with Bill Duffy's agency, and Duffy happens to be McHale's old college roommate. Tim Floyd, Mayo's coach at USC, was Hoiberg's coach at Iowa State. If the Wolves don't draft Mayo, it'll be because there's a very good reason not to.

Horace nailed it on the head. It's all about connections. Mchale/Hoiberg know the people OJ know, it's a match made in heaven for OJ to come here and feel easy with the staff and something must be seriously wrong(Or right, with another player) to pass up on OJ.

Not when it comes to combo guards in the lottery and Bill Duffy.

It's starting to sound like the Wolves drafting Mayo is a sure thing.

I never thought about it that way, the Duffy/McHale insider connection already gave us Mike James and Olowokandi, might as well go for the trifecta and grab Mayo

Ever since it came out that Mayo signed with Duffy's agency I haven't been able to not think about it that way. Now that the lottery's all sorted out and we're in a position where it's realistic to take Mayo, that's what I expect to happen, so as a Wolves fan, it's my duty to talk myself into him so that I'm not disappointed on draft night (although it's talking a top 3-5 prospect into a top 3 prospect, so it won't take as much convincing as some picks have in the past).

I think the connections point is very valid to think Mayo is our pick. Additionally, I think the talk about getting another scorer on the wing that Hoiberg mentioned also points to Mayo.

I do think he has star potential and would be a great fit. I think Lopez is a good player, but I'm incredibly hesitant to take a C that high when all we're really looking for is someone to rebound and block shots at that position. I'd take Mayo and then try to trade our 2nd rounders, our surplus on the wing, our expirings, and/or one of the Boston/Miami picks to fill that C position. All of that said I think we could conceivably help C with our 2nd round pick as well.

Duffy is also Jaric's agent.
Thats how McHale got sold that deal.
Not so sure being buddies with Duffy is a blessing.

Whats the infatuation with Mayo? I see alot of Stephon Marbury in him. Personally I like Eric Gordon more than him.
