Draft/McCants

Post#1 » by drummerrob26 » Wed May 21, 2008 10:54 pm

I will be the first to say that I am a fan of McCants but I feel given our current situation he has to be traded. I think that it is obvious that there are a few teams that are looking to trade their picks. The one problem is that two of the teams that have come out and said they would be willing to trade are in our division. I am looking to see what people think however of putting together a package to keep our #3 and find a way to move up and not only get Mayo or Lopez but to get both instead. In my opinion it seems that if we trade mccants and are willing to part with picks such as the boston pick and miami pick we may be able to get something done. Along with those we do also have guys like walker and Jaric that maybe some team would feel fills a need of some sort. What are people thinking of ways to make this idea possible.

Jaric likely wont be a piece involved in a deal that brings us back a 2nd top 10 pick. Walker may, he has more value than most people on the trade boards feel, they look at him as a player, GM's will look at him as a 9 mil EXP. Though it will more than likely be a trade-deadline move than one during the offseason.

I feel the same way about McCants, as does shrink. He doesnt have a ton of value right now. If we really were planning on dealing him, let him up his own value through the first 2-3 months of the season.

At this point, its not likely we move up into the top 10 aside from the #3.

Someone will certainly be willing to overpay for McCants at the deadline if we let him start and get 20ppg.

I for one do not want to lose McCants. If we end up havinf Foye, McCants, and Mayo on the same team, that would mean there would never be a moment in a game where we wouldn't have a scorer who can get us some baskets.

Keep 'em both I say, Foye and McCants.

If McCants is willing to come off the bench I say we audition him for the role of sixth man. We will need one eventually, the earlier we can find one, the better.

If he accepts the 6th man role, Perfect! I would love to keep him on, but chances are, long term, he wants to be a starter. Problem is he doesnt seem to want to work on the things he needs to. In that case we need to deal him before he breaks up the locker room
