The #4 pick...
Could it be had without giving up the 3rd pick? I see a lot of arguing about Lopez vs. Mayo, why not take both?
The sonics have been looking to slash salary for a few seasons now, and they also have a big hole at shooting guard. What would it take to get their pick? A package starting with Antoine Walker and Rashad McCants seems like it would be very appealing to the sonics since they have several less than desirable contracts.

I agree. Like I wrote before.. it would probably take McCants and the Boston and Miami picks. They might even want one of both of our 2nds this year or one now, one later.

Hawks fan here, but I have to admit, I watch the T'Wolves alot, so they are kind of my Western team so to say.
Anyways, as a O.J. Mayo fan and Foye fan, I believe the only way the Sonics would even consider trading the 4th pick is if they get a Foye type player in return. Now don't bash me for saying that because I love Foye and respect the fans of the T'Wolves, but to be real about it, you have to think, is it worth trading Foye to get Lopez and free up room for Mayo?
As a Mayo fan, I say just draft Mayo and have a 3-guard rotation having McCants as the 3rd. Mayo may not be a true PG, but he creates his own shot and I like to say he is a passing SG, then saying he is a shooting PG. Makes it sound better. lol.

^Even if no one is traded and Telfair (is he the third player?) is not brought back there would be enough playing time for everyone but Jaric. Plus I would rather have Foye than both Telfair and McCants so I would rather see them go.
*I was happy to see the Hawks make the playoffs and play so well against Boston. I have been waiting for them to break out for years. They are giving hope to all young teams.

^ Oh I was saying Foye/Mayo/McCants is the 3 guard rotation, but still need a 4th guard for the bench, which is going to be Jaric since he isn't going no where.
I was saying keep Foye and just draft Mayo. Just saying Foye would prob be the only way the Wolves could get the 4th without giving Jefferson or the 3rd. Not saying one bit to trade Foye. I would love to see Foye and Mayo in T'Wolves jerseys together.
Oh and Thank You for the Hawks comment. That is one reason the T'Wolves is my fav Western team, the fans.

Word. Even though I wanted Boston to win, Joe reclaimed his #5 spot on my list of my top 5 favorite players in the league. I used to love him on the Suns, and glad he became a star in the ATL. Hawks are going to be scary next year and the years that follow with their confidence and youth growing together.

.. and I also hope we can do as well in the lottery as ATL did last year, when they were also "stuck with the #3 pick in a two player draft!" Nicely done.
LOL! I have been keeping a close eye on SEA. It surprised me also last month, but you're right. In talks about trading Green, many SEA fans said they were perfectly comfortable using Durant at the 2. It seems to me like you don't want to play a potential superstar like Durant out of position to help Green along, but perhaps they know more.
When SEA got the #4 pick, they were in favor of Mayo over Bayless by about a 60/40 split, and almost no one wanted Lopez. I suspected it was because of their three decent prospect centers (Sene, Robert Swift and Petro), but it seems mostly like a dislike for Lopez. In fact, they say that their two biggest needs are at center and PG. Some think they should try to trade Wilcox and move into the middle of the first round to try to address both needs.
SEA may be willing to trade the #4, but we'd have a tough time getting to that spot with our pieces without touching the #3. Al Jefferson is untouchable, and I'd be opposed to trading Foye or Brewer to get the #4. What are our best assets then?
1. 2009 MIA Pick is Top 10 protected in 2009, Top 6 protected in 2010, then unprotected
2. Rashad McCants
3. Cap relief
4. 2008 Early Seconds
Unfortunately, I don't think we can offer enough to get them to bite .. or at least not enough to get a division rival to accept our package over others.
The pick could be good, but several can't imagine Riley in the lottery, so SEA won't over-value it. I agree they could use McCants, (he's better than Wilkins or Gelabale), but they seem content with Durant playing the #2. I think they really need to trade Green for a comparable player at a different position. Cap relief doesn't help much, because they only have three (Ridnour, Wilkins, Collison) contracts over $6 mil that are more than expirings, and ridnours and watson's only end in 2010. The 2nds don't mean much since they have no cap danger, and own the #24, and four second rounders.
The best offer we could make them, I think is:
MIA 2009 1st + McCants + Telfair (S&T) for Earl Watson + #3

I didn't know Durant was a big hole..
I want us to get the 4th pick too, maybe they would take Toine + re-signed Telfair for #4 + filler.
We need some Shrink here.

I live in Seattle. We were expecting the first or second pick. What makes you think we would now unload #4 for financial reasons. Even Clay Bennett isn't that dumb. We have a whole lot of expiring contracts and the 4 seconds are going to be cheap. Presti is right where he wants to be. He has alot of cap space, a boatload of picks and expiring contracts to play with. The goal now is to reload. Unlike Minnesota's picks, the firsts the Sonics have coming up are all unprotected. Let's hope the days of giving players away for other teams crap are over.
Bennett is going to have a long summer in court and then he is going to sell to Steve Ballmer. Bet on it!
I just stopped by to see whether you preferred Mayo or Lopez. Thanks.
