What would it take to get the 13 pick?

The wiretap says that portland is looking to trade their 13 pick. I know they are in our division and rivals but what would it take to get that pick?

I really want a Mayo + Deandre Jordan or Javale McGee or Speights draft.

It would be interesting. Considering they are within our division. I am not sure what they would want, considering they need PG and SF help. Unless we did a s/t with Gomes I am not sure what we have that they want.

Portland fans seemed to like Craig Smith and his ability to score efficiently in the post.

Hmm..That wouldn't be enough though.

Is Craig Smith + a 2nd rounder enough?

^nope. I wouldn't want the pick. I'd be more interested in moving up one spot :-)

Without giving up Al Jefferson we do not have what it takes to move from the 3rd to the 2nd or 1st. (unless Miami wanted its draft pick back for next year)

Portland is interesting because we do not want to give them value as a rival, but they need value. I see them making a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 type deal. They have a ton of contracts and it makes the most sense to move them+ the pick for an upgrade

I could see Portland making a play for Hinrich with the #13 as part of the deal. Could we use Smith or Gomes to get the pick from Chicago?

what about smith + BOS #1? is that enough?

Wouldn't Smith be behind Oden/Aldridge/Pryz/Outlaw/Frye in the front court? Portland has no use for him.

I don't think the wolves have the pieces. Portland will look to upgrade at the 1 or 3.

Agreed.

I doubt it. What contracts would we have to suffer taking back? Since Cookie would be a S&T we would have to take some unattractive player/contracts back right?

Im not exactly shrink when it comes to trades but what about something like:

Smith S&T (not sure the #) + Bos #1 + 2nd for #13 + Frye + Outlaw

Outlaw becomes redundant if they get Smith and he is also the only contract that would make the #'s work that I would want back in a trade. I really like Frye but he doesnt have to be included, just thought a 2-for-1 would be ideal. They get a future 1st and a 2nd to stash in Europe as well as Smith.

We get a solid 3/4 tweener, a solid 4/5, and the first that we covet. I dont really like the salary we are taking on though. But again Im not sure on the numbers.

This is pointless. There is NO WAY IN HELL that we can get the 13th pick PERIOD! Portland doesn't deal with us with what we have and adding in the factor that we are in the same division. NO CHANCE IN HELL! Kinda pointless

How about the future Heat pick?

This is probably WAY off value-wise but I think it works financially:

Chicago
Out: Hinrich
In: C. Frye, J. Jones, G. Buckner, Miami pick

Why? It

I doubt I would do it, but....

#13 2008 for Boston 1st 2009 and Miami 1st 2009 may be close value wise.

Portland really needs to do something with the pick. They will be bringing Sergio Rodriguez over, and they need to clear the roster space. All reports out of POR are that they will use the pick, Jarrett Jack, Channing Frye and perhaps even Outlaw or Webster to try to get a better starter. That's not exactly our strong suit.

However, we are the ultimate fallback position. If they can't get a deal that increases their productivity, the MIA pick would work great for them to defer their pick until next year.

I don't think they'd want the guaranteed salary of the BOS pick next year. Maybe they'd want to pick swap one of our seconds -- they are getting 4-5 this season already.

We traded them Brandon Roy two years ago for Randy Foye. We even had a deal in place with them before Boston screwed it up for us.

OK I'm not trolling here, but I am a Blazerfan so what about C.Frye/J.Jack and #13 for Foye? Obviously you only do this if you have targeted Mayo @#3.
