According to several NBA officials, the Minnesota Timberwolves covet Stanford center Brook Lopez. One problem: some NBA insiders claim Lopez is balking at working out for the T-Wolves.

As if anyone needed more reason to draft Mayo. I actually liked Lopez but if he doesn't want to be a Wolf then screw him.

Maybe he refused a workout because he's been reading this board.

Or maybe he is trying to play hard to get.....oh no, i see McHale falling for this.

If this is true I hope he refuses to play here then falls way back in the draft. But I can't believe that he would turn down a workout for the team with the third pick.

Good riddance, if this is true then Mayo is our pick for sure.

Well, I guess this article puts an end to the rumor that Lopez won't workout for us. Since all the top picks are in Orlando this week and I believe their interview sessions were this afternoon, I'm guessing this stories info is a little more up to date and accurate.

Beasley said he could envision the Heat interviewing other prospects for the second pick beyond himself and Rose.

Southern Cal guard O.J. Mayo said he could see himself landing with the Heat. He has been working out in Chicago alongside Heat guard Dwyane Wade, with the two eating lunch together Wednesday in Chicago.

"It's great for me to be able to pick his mind a little bit, ask him questions about his early years in the NBA," Mayo said. "He's a great person. He's totally a great guy and I'd love to play with him."

Interviews with Rose, Beasley and Mayo could be as deep as the Heat takes the process.

Stanford center Brook Lopez said he has workouts scheduled with the Timberwolves, who pick at No. 3, and the Sonics, who pick at No. 4, but nothing yet with the Heat.

Arizona guard Jerryd Bayless, another player considered a top-five possibility, said he saw no reason for a workout with the Heat, "since they know who they're going to get."

This would be a blessing in disguise for Wolves fans, because Lopez is going to be an epic bust. If McHale passes on Mayo he is an absolute moron.
