I know I'm a geek, but I've been anxiously awaiting the results. Nothing really jumps out as unexpected. Maybe Dorsey being even shorter than I realized.

wow, Beasley clearly a SF in my mind now; he may just make it to MN as Miami and Chicago both have zero need for a SF. Plus Mayo get his 6'5 listing and tests very athletic. We'll have to see, but if you want to play a tradition lineup, Beasley is not a PF.

Kevin Love outjumps Deandre Jordan by 5", clearly he's a better athlete

I'm loving Lopez at #3 now, huge arms and height. Kinda slow, but we can go Gomes at PF against quick lineups.

Rose being shorter is interesting. I still expect him to be the #1 guy, but it is a dent in the armor of the golden boy.

Beasley is shorter than most expected. I KNEW IT when watching him I said in the original draft thread that he looked very small. I do not want him on this team.

Lopez wingspan is near duncans. My big concern with lopez is his strength and if he could be a top-10 center. His standing reach is beautiful and makes up for his lack of jumps.

Love is shorter than I hoped, but still decent. 6'9.5 in shoes=6'10 by NBA standard and he could play the 4/5 with that. His standing reach and wingspan are similar to Beasleys. I am very impressed that his BV is that low (easily in the 20s during the season) and his vert+reps impressed me also.

Mayo is in range we expected. with his standing reach a lil better than most worried. An interesting thing is he had the second best vert. But people act like he is as athletic as Fred Hoiberg. Kid had better lane drills than Bayless

Dorsey's height is ok with his style of play and wingspan. I hope he plays somewhere as a 4 not a 5.

I think what this does is clean up the 3 prospects we are looking at in Mayo love lopez. It takes away some of the negative at all 3. Which is very good for us. The issue comes with if Beasley is available do we take him. I hope not. But Mayo lopez love is a decent 3 man group to base our lotto hopes on.

If Mayo is taken 2nd, and there are no decent trade down situations. Do you pass on beasley for Love or lopez?

On Love: His body fat is still very high at 12.9%

This is starting to look like a 3-man draft rather than a two man draft. I really hope Beasley doesn't drop out of the top 2. I think Beasley could still play PF tho.

Jordan arguably has better size than Lopez just like I suspected. Way faster too.

Rev, I'm confused about your love/hate you've had about Beasley all season.

If he falls to us, you hope we don't take him? Seems crazy to me. His game would mix beautifully with Big Al. Especially, as it's becoming more and more evident, that he'll be playing as a 3 in the NBA.

Have to admit, Lopez measured out a ton better than I thought he would with reach and wingspan and it does make him look like a better pick than he did.

I am still saying Mayo is a better prospect and pick for us (if he doesn't move up to 2nd!), but I am less inclined to hate the Lopez idea. That said, if Beasley falls, you have to pick him over Lopez. You can trade down, but Rose/Beasley/Mayo are the top 3 in my book as Tier 1 or 1 1/2. Lopez, Bayless, Gallinari, etc? go to the next tier.

If Gordon was a point guard, he would have gone through the roof with those results. If he can get to the basket, that puts him in the Dwayne Wade category, but with an outside shot. I don't like him for the Wolves as he seems redundant with McCants.

Jordan was supposed to be this athletic freak, but it turns out he's just got a great NBA frame, and not-so-great athletic ability to go with it.

Mayo tested out pretty good, I wish he had another inch or so on his wingspan, though.

I figured Rose would be bigger than Bayless, but the wingspan is huge. Bayless has stubs for arms.

Beasley needs to improve his passing/ball handling and maybe consider the move to a Marion style SF.

It's interesting that the measurements essentially shortened the gap between the top 2 and the rest of the draft. It's coming off like a top 1, and then the rest, now.

Beasley worries mebut I think you can't pass on him at 3. he has the talent. Mayo is still my top choice. Love is moving upper for me and Gallinari is intriguing. Lopez makes me wanna puke. No offense to you Lopez guys.

It still looks to me like Beasley is big enough and strong enough to play PF, but quick enough and skilled enough to play SF. I don't think there is any way possible for him to fall to three - if he does the wolves will draft him. He still was the best player in college last year and projects as becoming the best pro.

I think Beasley could be a valuable high post offensive player and he can rebound. My concern is that I do not see him as quick enough to guard the 3 or big enough to defend the 4. Add to that he is not the most devoted defensive player.

If he moves to the 3 he needs to radically improve his ballhandling and passing. (perhaps worst than brew) I think he has a high bust/boom ratio and if it was not for the character I consider it. but you take the position issue+defensive issue and add the character issue and I pray we are able to trade down if Mayo is taken first.

Love/Lopez is almost a toss up now. Love is moving up fast.

It's funny that in about December, my college roommate was talking about how that the Wolves need to draft Love because he would complement Al perfectly. At the time, I was on the fence, but gradually I'm starting to agree more and more. Offensively, I think the two would be better than a duo of Jefferson and Beasley. Defensively, Love is big enough to guard some of the better, bigger post players so Al doesn't have to waste his energy.

Rose:

6'2 1/2?! Dang. I thought he was going to be in the 6'4 range. Wow. Definitely not as large as advertised, something I thought was one of the major attractions about him.

Kevin Love:

That's a very solid height. Not too bad of an athlete either. I underestimated him.

Josh Duncan:

Interesting prospect whose results came back pretty darn good. I think he'll be a good 2nd round steal.

Gordon:

Geez this guy is a tank. If we didn't already have Foye, I'd be all over his bandwagon.

It will be interesting to see Randolph in work outs. I knew he was thin, but it sounds like he is a toothpick. Not sure where to place him, but I definitely have Gallinari ahead of him in my book.

I have less hate for Love now, but still am not high on him and would rather have Lopez than Love (aka BEEFY).

Oh, dang dude...you're completely right. I was thinking of Nathan Jawai when I read that for some reason...not John Riek. I stand corrected. Dang.

I wonder what Jawai's results are then...because he's the one I've been wanting and whose stock has been on the rise. Definitely not so for Riek (like you mentioned).

^^just proving again that there are more center prospects late in the 1st round than there are spots. So unless we fall in love with one we can just wait it out and get another good piece.

that was expected though. Also, Craig Smith measured at 12.2, Foye at 10.


I've always thought Beasley had a SF game anyways, I think this locks him in at SF/PF more than PF/SF or pure PF. I think he'd make a good duo with Marion or Deng, but I'm hoping Chicago and Miami decide against that and let him slide.


I like Beasley/Lopez/Love in that order I think. And they're all so close I don't care which we get. If they go Mayo, I won't cry.

in the 2nd I'm looking at Forbes for sure, that dude seems very underrated; well maybe not now after dominating 2 camps; he could take over Snyder's spot on the team. I also like Hardin a tad simply for his athletic potential, Hickson for his beastliness, Padgett for his smarts, ditto for Ewing Jr, Shan Foster for his shooting, and Neitzel for his floor general abilities

I think any of those guys would be a great pick in the 2nd and fill big needs
