Dwane Casey reportedly impressed GM John Paxson when he interviewed for the head coaching job for the Bulls.

I heard it was going to be Doug Collins, but supposedly owner Jerry Reinsdorf is concerned that hiring Collins could damage their friendship.

Casey is only 51? Man, I actually hope Casey gets the job.

Has anyone heard if Flip is drawing interest from anyone?

I figured Casey would be back in the mix this off-season. I have a feeling Flip will be joining the analyst booth for next season. Not that he really has the voice for it.

I think Flip should just take the year off and kick back. There will be tons of demand next off-season.

The Bulls would be a good fit for Casey IMO, I dont think there will be a big worry to win now like there was when he was here.

Can anyone elaborate on Casey's strengths and weaknesses as a head coach? Us Bulls fans are fighting raging wars of uninformed hypotehticals, but to be honest, none of us know what we're talking about. So,s ince you people witnessed his brilliance/stupidity first hand, can you give us a breakdown of what he done good?

He is a very good team defensive coach. His rotations/substitutions are mind-boggling and will have you pounding your fist. He was wrongly fired and was used as a scapegoat for the team not having a better record while it really it was just that the team had barely any talent. He actually had a lottery team at .500 when he was fired.

Do you think the rotations were more him not knowing how to get a solid rotation going or more trying to make something work with the players he had? Does he actually play the younger players a fair amount(everything I've read seems to indicate that he loves working with younger guys,which sounds great for the Bulls).

I think the assessments on Casey's defensive coaching have always been correct. The guy is a defensive coach, and he knows how to get it done. With that being said, he did have KG, who when dealt to Boston, turned them into the #1 Defense. So who knows, but I am positive, that he took a mediocre squad and turned them into .500 because of his defensive schemes. Now, I will say, he didn't have a lot to work with offensively. We were a little spoiled with Flip Saunders, because that man could really draw up the plays, so we might be a little harsh on Casey. It really isn't fair to judge Casey at all with the roster he had. All I can say, is that the guy was a complete professional who worked his tail off, and will get a team to play team defense. Offense=?

Well seeing as how Flip is also on the market and seeing as how this is the HEAD COACHING position in the NBA, I think it's perfectly acceptable to compare Dwane Casey to any other NBA head coach. Offensive plays are a huge part of the game, and Casey really isn't an X's and O's guy. His rotations were stupefying. He's an assistant coach through and through. He should be teaching defense, but I don't want him ever making the rotations or offensive plays. Dwane Casey is VERY good at what he does, but I do NOT believe he is a complete package as a coach, and therefore he should NOT be a head coach.

but after Wittman took over our Defense turned into crap with KG still being around. It certainly was Casey's work that we had a nice D.

well he doesn't play them from minute one of the season. the young guys (esp. rookies) have to gain their respect and playing time. but when they have the respect they get a nice amount of minutes. but you shouldn't rely on this. if you do a stupid play Casey let it it be known that it was your fault and you have to work harder to get back into rotation.

I really loved how he worked with Rashad in his rookie season. I can recall Casey saying that Rashad had one of the best individual D's in 2005 on the wolves squad and now Rashad's D is not good anymore (only if he wants to).
