Why for Min: Main reason here is to pick up both the #7 and #8 and get our returned pick. The #3 pick isn't quite worth the three lottos so we have to lose value elsewhere. We add a year to Buckner with Cardinal (at a higher price) and lose McCants to finish off the value but Knight is an expiring and could mentor at PG. Finally, we pick up Gadzuric as a back up center (overpriced) in exchange for Jaric (overpriced, but fills three positions for us).

Why for Mil: Mainly, to get the #3 pick (in a trade up from #8) and they trade the best player, but get out from his contract as well. They trade their back up center (Gadzuric) for Jaric who backs up at the 1, 2, and 3 positions for them. Mobley is two years in exchange for Redd's deal at a much lower expense. He splits time with Mayo as Mayo learns the NBA game. Collins backs up at center and is an exp.

Why for LAC: They get the best player in Redd and sure up their back court for a "compete now" lineup with their future PG be groomed and spliiting time with the oft injured Livingston. They also get out of Thomas and Mobley's contracts (though they were serviceable for them). The value they have to pay is the pick and the returned pick to MN. They also lose out on Knight's exp.

Why for Mem: Memphis get to balance there roster with McCants in for Crittenton giving them a shooting guard for when Miller gets traded. He is also on his last year so could give them (minimal) cap room if they let him go, which I would think not. Buckner is an expiring and helps wing defense. Tim Thomas can play some 3 and 4 (soft but tall) for them and is more useful than Cardinal. Essentially, there value is turning Cardinal into something useful (Thomas) and dealing a PG for a SG for more roster balance in the long term.


OK, go ahead and shoot away. It could be made alot more simple, but I wanted to address multiple issues on multiple teams. Tweak away as you see fit and enjoy the weekend.

Its very interesting, and very original. I haven't seen anything like it. In addition, I think its not overly homeristic.

That said, I don't think I'd do it because of the money. From what I hear, Gadzuric is truly awful and Cardinal is very bad as well. Jaric isn't worth his contract, but he's at least useful.

I think the LAC pick shouldn't be valued like a lottery pick, because it might not be, and more importantly, its carries a ton of uncertainty as to when it will arrive. It's a big difference if a bank said, You deposit $100, and I'll give you back $105 next year, or in two years, or in three years, but for sure in for years...!"

A nice deal for MEM, but they may struggle getting a little smaller. I actually think Collins will get some playing time, but perhaps they draft Lopez, so maybe not. I wouldn't mind seeing him come here -- he's an expiring and I've read that while he doesn't score, he's a good defensive center.

A nice deal for LAC. Redd for the #7 is close, as is Crit for the #31. However, they also get to move two overpaid vets like Tim Thomas and Mobely.

It looks a little steep for MIL.

The Bucks beat writer is claiming that there are two teams ahead of the Bucks that would deal their pick and salary filler for Redd. Most assume it's LA and another team. Those that believe the report probably don't do this deal; I however, probably would. Maybe. Redd and the #8 is steep.

LA seems like the one obvious team. Maggette is likely to opt out and they were pretty terrible at the SG position. With Brand and Kamen they could conceivably compete next season with a guy like Redd.

The second team, I honestly don't know. NY would seem to be the one to look at, but Crawford is a 20/5 player and comes cheaper. Memphis has Gay at the SG position and he's a budding star. Maybe Seattle but they're desperate for help at the PG position.

My honest thought was it could be Miami if it's true that Riley isn't overly enamored with Beasley. I think if Milwaukee took back Blount and Banks, and included a young guy like Sessions or CV, it's possible that Miami is the other team.

But I don't know. Just speculating.

Although I'm part of the club who wants Mayo very badly this deal isn't that horrible for us...

The plus side with Brian Cardinal is he can, unlike most of our roster shoot from deep and take some pressure off of Big Al down low; something he badly needs.

Gadzuric for all that his contract is bad, is a warm body thats taller than 6-8, something we need to do anything out west.

Brevin Knight I'd like for just the reasons you guys have mentioned he could teach Foye how to really play point guard.


With picks 7 and 8 we could look to players that would be a reach at 3.

Danilo Gallinari:Could well be the steal of this draft, no one really knows that much about him, I feel he could be a peja type player with much better passing. His outside shooting also can draw pressure of of Al.

A lot of sites I've been looking at have Brook sliding to the Bobcats at 9 so we could still pick him up at 7 or 8 and get another youngster to slide into the future with. Although I'm part of the mayo fan club Brook can do many things we need, a legit 7 footer with something like a 7-5 wingspan a reasonable jumper to go with good rebounding.

Anthony Randolph is a fun prospect, he's long and athletic and can block shots something I really want from a big guy on this team so Al can gamble a little on defense. He handles the ball well for a big and has a decent jumper to go with his post game.

Russell Westbrook if we still like the idea of playing two combo guards, he's got some bounce and can defend anyone.

And my personal favorite. DeAndre Jordan. Yes he is a huge project but with the right work could be just the right big guy to put with Al, a shot blocker who lives off of putbacks and feeds off of drives by guards.

I dunno... in this trade Milwaukee ends up with #3 and no Redd, right? So it would run pretty chalk early on:

1) Chicago - Rose
2) Miami - Beasley
3) Milwaukee - Mayo

... and I don't think the next three teams (Seattle, Memphis and NYK) all want bigs. I think Love will definitely be there at 7... if they did this McHale would probably draft Love/Gallinari or Love/Randolph. Interesting deal.

Interesting, if you cut out the Gadzuric/Jaric swap it's palatable,
if we pick say galinari and lopez at 7 and 8, which leaves us with the same crappy backcourt problem we had last year. We could take eric gordon with one of those picks, but I want no part of him.

Interesting Info DB. I assume the player the bucks would be targeting by moving up would be OJ Mayo, but that is a steep price to pay to move up 6 spots, especially if they have to eat blount and banks' contracts. I thought the whole point of moving redd is to get rid of his salary? The only expiring they have is marion, and I doubt they'd move him in such a deal.

The Clippers and Knicks are good bets. Knicks especially because they have stephon marbury's expiring deal, but why would they want an older player when they should be rebuilding? The knicks could essentially do marbury & #6 for redd, but that doesn't get milwaukee oj mayo, but maybe eric gordon and an expiring would be enough to move redd?

The clippers would have to send out tim thomas and mobley along with their pick to make salaries match. Both of those players have 2 years left on their deals, which is a little less attractive to milwaukee. Maybe if we agreed to eat one of their salaries for Walker's expiring the Clippers would agree to give us our pick back?

Appreciate the responses all. It was fun putting it together, though by the end my eyes started to glaze over. I tried making it even, and it was based off of some other things I read. Memphis was initially just thrown in to move McCants somewhere other than LAC since with aquiring Redd they had less us of a SG and more for a PG.

In regards to Mil cost. I can defenitely see where the steep talk is coming in, but to expound on the rationale. The trade is predicated on Milwuakee wanting to get out of Redd's big contract with three years remaining while still getting decent value. Mobley is only 2 years and about half the amount. Collins is an exp for the other half. Now, I will admit, I had thought I saw Redd with 4 years remaining, so it loses some of its appeal to them. I included the Jaric/Gadzuric swap since with the loss of Redd, Jaric would be of more value to them than Gadz (whose numbers I think are bad due to being behind Bogut) to add more value to Milwuakee.

Would moving the second rounder #31 from LAC to Mil help?

It does come down to what they value though and upon looking at it more closely, may be too steep for them. I think I will post it on the trade board since I am actually around now to comment on/defend it.
