Corey Brewer will be eventually be best all-around T-Wolve

I think that he can be the besst defender in the entire league very soon and 3 steals a game is not out of the question. I see his line in two years as 16,7 reb,3 assist, 2.8 steals. 1.8 blocks with lock-down type defense.. i mean like kevin martin comes into minny in mid jan and he is going to shoot 6-19 for only 15 points.. next night kobe comes into town leaves with 18 on 7/21..

Because Brewer is a rookie in a rebuilding season, I will cut him some slack. I know he will improve next year but I don't think his progress will be anything shocking.

I think your block and steal numbers are a little high but otherwise I agree with the premise of the post. A lot of people are sleeping on this kid and I see many on RealGM regard him as a bust already. I think it's way too early for people to be throwing that label around. There's something about Brewer and his work habits that tells me he won't be a bust or major disappointment, unless people are expecting an All Star. I don't think Brewer will ever be on that level but I do think he will be a very solid all-around player that will be able to impact the game with his defense. He is a very key piece to the puzzle.......it's just that the Wolves need to find the other pieces now (PG, C, legit second scoring option).

There's a lot of things to Brewer's game that the average fan won't be able to notice or appreciate, so I think that might have something to do with his low reputation around these parts. Offensively he was a trainwreck but let's give him at least one more year before we completely give up on the kid.

In 2 years I see Brewer's statline being something like this:

14 PPG/3 asts/6 reb/1.8 sts/0.7 blks.

Better than Al?

T-Wolve?

T-Wolve?....French perhaps?

Anyways, I agree with the original poster...he has all the tools. Poeple complain about him because he, like Foye, was pretty seasoned in terms of college play. Fact is, I expect both to blow up in a big way this year, the same with McCants. I love our guard group now...I won't be mad if we add Mayo, but I firmly believe the guys we have now can get the job done starting next season and beyond.

Very quick and athletic, great vision, great defense, OUTSTANDING attitude, great work ethic, a jump shot that is improving by leaps and bounds.

First 2 months of the season Brewer shot 29.3% and 35.3%
Last 2 months of the season Brewer shot 43.9% and 41.2%

No one accused him of being a sniper those last 2 months, but that's CLEAR improvement. Now he has all summer to keep working on it with NBA caliber coaches, he'll have a solid mid-range jump shot this year or next.

He has his flaws, but he doesn't suck....and no he won't be better than Al Jefferson unless he REALLY pulls off something shocking.

blocks and steals are out of reach and if we draft Mayo, Foye, McCants (if he's still there) and maybe even Gomes keep improving I don't see him scoring 16 points. if he gets enough shots then yeah probably but I think he'll only get enough shots to average around 10-12 points.

Pretty much my sentiments on Brew as well. He started so incredibly bad offensively, that people kinda basically shut down on him. They called him a lost cause like half way through the year, really basically ignoring the fact that his shooting really started to get better and he was still ballin on D. I can't see how anyone can already call bust on this one to be honest.

I like Corey a lot, but I think the title is a bit of an exaggeration. What I would really like to see from Corey last year is better shooting (30%+ from three and 42%+ from the field, minimum), more confidence on offense, and more control on breaks.

Speaking of Corey Brewer, I ran into him at a concert last night. Its my second time running into him. I met him at the Mall of America last December too. He rolls by himself, I guess he's not rich enough to afford a posse yet.

Brewer's athletic ceiling is no different than many other lanky guys, like Scottie Pippen, Tayshaun Prince and Tim Thomas. But only time will tell if Brewer will be like Pippen (50 greatest of all time) Prince (sometimes all-star and championship contributor) or Tim Thomas (a floater who never really took advantage of his talents.) He doesn't suck, he was a rookie on a bad team

He was a bad rookie on a bad team. Maybe bad isnt the word, average seems a little more fitting. It seems like a lot of the people on this board tend to argue what they think he might be, as opposed to what he is now. This past season, he was nothing better than average. He shot poorly (though it did get better), he played aggresive D, that doesnt mean it was great D. I didnt really see him put handcuffs on anybody.

He had one 18 rebound game and every thought he was some phenomenal rebounder. He plays with little confidence in himself and out of control at times. I honestly expected more control from someone that was so successful in a 3 year run at Florida.

Dont ge me wrong, I think he has the potential to be a solid contributor in the Tayshaun/Battier role, but he has a ways to go before he is even close

Brewer is not the type of player who will be the "best" on a team, rather he will be an invaluable part of a team. His Florida teams were that way. They had 3 guys that were very, very good. They filled their roles and they made each other better.

Brewer will not "bust" because he tries hard and is a good defender. But his offensive game is very raw right now. He needs to go from "deer in headlights" to "swagger" having a more "set" roll and putting better players around him will help.

Mindless hate? Brewer does nothing for this team.

Position wise, we didnt need it, and he certainly wasnt the best player at 7 last year

totally agree with Rev.

Give him this summer and next year to grow and then he can be a tayshaun prince or perhaps an ak47 type. The people that get down on him are the people that always think we should have drafted someonelse. Give these KIDS a chance to stay healthy and grow together and you may be suprised. If you want to bring in the negativity, go to the espn boards.
