Re-watched the K-St/USC Game

Best discussion on the board right now is Mayo or Beasley. I am re-watching their 1st rd match up in the tourney to look at them w/o all the hype and articles.

Beasley is underwhelming on defense.
Mayo tries on defense. very active.

Mayo is very active off the ball. He also seems to have an awareness for what is happening.

The USC offense looks bad. Very clustered. Bad spacing.

Beasley does not seem to work within the team concept. He just tries to use his physical nature to compensate. In this game he got 2 quick fouls. Walker looks good so far, could be a hustle athletic guy ala Snyder off the bench.

Mayo got the ball-broke the full court press and threw a soft lob. Great vision and play. I am shocked at the "not good athlete" comments, he looked crazy fast dribbling down the court.

There are many times Mayo appears to be going half-speed. Almost like he is not putting everything into it. Not sure why this is. It is counter to what we hear about mayo. I think he is trying to conserve energy. I know USC had a very thin bench.

Mayo gets very good seperation. Has a scary quick first-step. He even elected to take a bank shot (he did miss) Beasley looks like a 4 out there. Not a 3.

once again, USC offense is horrible. Very horrible.

ok, halftime..

Beasley is aggressive, but does not use his vert and size to attack as a 4. I am concerned about him at the next level against 4's that are bigger, stronger, faster.

OJ does not force, he has great understanding. I am impressed with his tools. I wish I could have seen Mayo in the Memphis offense.
