Hypothetically, KG for the #1

If we had kept KG for another season, we likely still would not have made the playoffs in such a stacked Western Conference. We likely would have had a better record and the make-up if our roster would be different. However, if the chips still fell the way they did in the draft lottery this season and we had a KG that was still wasting his career here, would we have been able to acquire a package from the Bulls centered around the #1 pick, conceivably Derrick Rose?

There were rumors of the Chandler/Deng/#4 for KG before the 06 draft (which I never bought) and they could have offered a package of 3 or more of the #9/Noah, Deng, Hinrich, Gordon, TT and some contracts to make #'s match.

Would a #1/Deng/TT or Noah/Gooden for KG have gone down this summer? How would you guys feel about potentially having the #1 pick here.

I'm fine with the best pure low post scorer in the league.

I don't Chicago would be interested. If we kept KG there'd be no KG for DPOY or MVP consideration, nobody would've seen how his personality can turn a team of misfits into champions, and he'd be a year older and still playing for a bad team. If anything we'd probably get a worse offer. Plus I believe Deng is a RFA so he can't be traded w/ the #1 pick, no?
