They got the Hornets pick. Crap man, these guys are go getter's!

The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Hornets to acquire the 27th pick in the draft for cash considerations, a Blazers source told ESPN.com.

The deal was agreed to verbally between the two teams on Tuesday night, according to the source. The teams have scheduled a trade call with the league in the morning to make the deal official.

Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard has been very active in the past few drafts acquiring picks. Armed with the financial might of owner Paul Allen, the Blazers acquired the 23rd pick in the draft last year and drafted Rudy Fernandez. They also used cash to acquire Sergio Rodriguez in 2006.

If only NBA teams were allowed to have 20 roster spots. I think Portland is acquiring assets to swing a deal for a legit NBA player, or to trade up and get Westbrook.

Well I hope it's as simple for us to buy a first rounder. IF they can get 27 for just cash we should be able to come with something so that we land 15-25.

You might think so, but I would consider 15-20 a reach for us to acquire. Teams 15-20 are still going to be getting a pretty good player so they're not just going to get rid of their pick because they don't want the guaranteed 1st rounder contract burden. Teams 25-30 are more willing to sell their pick/trade them for 2nd rounders because at that point, they're still going to get a similar player and not have to give them a guaranteed 3 year deal.

I would love to see us grab another mid-late 20's pick. I agree with the good Dr. though that Portland is once again making some moves to try and grab a Point or get a legit vet.

I do like how aggressive Portland is with their wheeling and dealing. They've acquired a bunch of young talent and now they can trade the ones they don't really want and try to get a vet. A combo of any of the following players Outlaw, Rodriguez, Jack, Webster, and Przybilla should net them a good veteran role player.

I could see them targeting Ajinca with this pick.

Ajinca will be gone by 27, imo. He could be there, but I just don't see a guy that big and long with such a great skill set going that low. Right now he's Portland's at 13 on DX and San Antonio's at 26 on .net (which, I obviously disagree with). That's just my opinion, but we'll find out on draft night.

Ajinca will be gone. Who Portland targets depends on what they get earlier. But if Courtney Lee is still there, they don't think twice.

it seems the only difference is Paul Allen basically looks at it like free draft picks, whereas Glen Taylor and other owners can't stand the thought of spending money, even though this is one of the deeper drafts in recent memory. PDX already has 3 good draft picks, but they don't think twice about adding another asset to make their team better.

Seriously, Paul Allen is a cool owner. He's willing to go the extra mile and thats why the Blazers always have a stacked roster and the Wolves are trying to cut corners and find bargains with the Eddie Griffins and the Gary Trents of the world

Don't give Paul Allen too much credit.

1. Simply spending money doesn't do it. Would you applaud him for being over the lux with his Jailblazer teams, that made a bigger splash on police blotters than NBA courts?

2. Don't give him credit for lucking into Oden by winning the lottery. Replace Corey Brewer on our team with Oden, and people would be saying the wolves front office had set up a fantastic future.

3. Let me hear from POR once they have a winning record. How many years have they been subpar, picking up lotto picks?

4. Here's a shocking fact. Last time they listed the net worth of NBA owners, Paul Allen of Microsoft was worth $20 billion, and the other 29 nba owners added together were worth $25 billion. Its a lot easier for him to throw $3 mil in the air -- he doesn't have to care if it works out of not.

even if he is just way richer, it still makes me jealous of him; and he bought the Blazers around the same time the Wolves franchise started, and I know in that time frame Portland has done a lot more than Minnesota has.

Dang, now Charlotte has Denver's #20 pick

you suck McHale. YOu too Taylor. Hoiberg, you're still cool, but you're on notice.

ding-ding-ding.

Does not matter how many B-C rate pieces you have, they need to package those for a legit PG. There is only 15 roster spots. Portland has a nice group. Oden-LMA-Roy, but they need to package stuff up.

I could see a Mem-Port deal. That makes me want to throw up.

Come on man we are just getting rolled on in the move up in the draft department. 20 is a good pick to have!

They got the 27th, not the 20.
