http://www.twincities.com/ci_9731288?source=most_viewedPlans are for Love to join second-round draft pick Nikola Pekovic at the Wolves' summer league in Las Vegas in two weeks.
The Wolves are expected to have nearly $6 million to spend on a free agent or two this summer. Their goal is to eventually get nearly $18 million under the salary cap to be able to spend more on free agents.
Timberwolves fans can expect more trading next year at NBA draft time. That's because the Wolves could have three first-round picks and two second-round picks. The second-round picks obtained in the Kevin Love-O.J. Mayo deal are expected to be those of Philadelphia and Indiana. The Pistons will get the Wolves' second-round pick.
Kevin McHale seems upbeat and intent on remaining as head of the Timberwolves' basketball operations at least long enough to make the team a contender again.
The Timberwolves are expected to sign free-agent point guard John Lucas, who played part of last season with the Houston Rockets.http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/22195754.html?page=3&c=yThe Grizzlies called just after the Wolves agreed to the Miami trade. Suddenly, the Wolves now have just one point guard, Foye, under contract.
"Twenty minutes and Mayo and Marko and everybody was gone," McHale said. "That was the way it worked. We almost wanted to call Miami and see if we could take [Chalmers] back, but I don't think that would have worked."
The Grizzlies have a glut of guards. McHale thought about asking for a guard back in the deal, then reconsidered.
"At that point, muddying up the deal was not going to help," McHale said. "I really had a feeling there was a huge contingency in Memphis who didn't want to do it. In fact, I know that. They told me that."

Hopefully Telfair stays in Minnesota. Unfortunately the Chalmers & Mayo trade resulted in Foye being our only PG that is under contract. Instead we may have to consider John Lucas as PG.

There are enough PG's out there who would be a good back-up for Foye. I'm not worried about finding a good back-up G.

I think they need to sign Telfair now. I can't imagine them not doing it, unless he got a ridiculous offer, which I doubt will happen.

Can Pekovic actually play in the summer league? I guess I just assumed that because he won't be over here for a while he wouldn't play in the summer league. Would be sweet if he did tho.

People need to quit with all this Chalmers bs. We were overstocked at the 1 and 2 once drafting mayo, the chalmers deal was done before the other and we didint think there was a spot for chalmers so get over it

That's not a legitimate exuse, in fact it's ridiculous. There were big guys at our pick that could have helped us, there was no reason to trade it away.

At #34, there were several 1st round talents (CDR, Walker, Jordan, Chalmers, possibly even Hardin) and we sell the pick for 2 picks that wont be nearly as high in a draft that wont have nearly as much talent. Its not so much that we traded Chalmers, but more that we traded away a player that could have helped us in the long run.

Am I supposed to pretend I like the move when I don't or I am I supposed to just bite my tongue? This board is for expressing opinions. It would be nice to hear you actually defend the decision to trade the pick.

Cry?
We traded away 3 legit ball handlers, not pgs, ball handlers on thursday night and got 0 in return. Jaric, Chalmers and Mayo are all capable of setting up an offense and taking the ball up the court.
Now we're left with Telfair(unsure about resigning) and of course, our favorite player Foye.
This is a legit reason to be concerned. Nothing i'd expect the blind homers wouldn't be able to see.

It gives two million dollars to bring the euro over down the line.. It gets us two picks next year that can be used in trades and or bringing people in. CDR fell for a reason, I would take 2 mill over JOrdan whom will never be anything. The only person I could argue I would have rather has then the trade is Walker.
And he doesnt even fit a need or fit in so in reality the trade is fine and dandy.

I think you are the homer and cant get past the fact that the NBA is a business and the 2 mill and adding picks is never bad in this day in age. All these people you list arent worth shiat.

wow you are not getting it at all. Where is CDR gonna play behind Mccants, Gomes and brewer. Wow he would play 5 min a game tops. Deandre Jordan is a worthless D leaguer. Chalmers has some testcile issue and fell for reason. Bill Walker same as CDR.

I never said anything about CDR.
Im saying we're totally not going to the talent that we could've had in Chalmers.
Even Rileys saying he has a possibility of starting, but you've got more credit then future HOF'er riley does right? Miami's on the list of all the winners of the draft cause they stole Chalmers away

Yeah and most places I look we got an A- so it must not have been to big of deal right. You forget to see that we get two future picks and cash. yeah cash doesnt mean anything to you but on team that is going to lose money on opperating costs 2 mill can be helpful. The owner **** out more than 20 mill in buyouts in the last few years let the man get some lute back. And we add a pick I dont see how people can be so pissed.
