Best Trade Ever?

I was reading the RealGM recap of the Brand move and saw the following

But the Clippers were prepared to ditch players the same way the Sixers shed themselves of Calvin Booth, Rodney Carney, and a future first round pick (Grade for Minnesota: A+, their second consecutive good trade and probably the best in their history) to clear more cap dollars for Brand

It got me wondering ... what do you all think was the best in the Wolves history?

I'll put up five, you vote.

try this:

Milwaukee Bucks traded Cassell and Ervin Johnson to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Joe Smith and Anthony Peeler yesterday.

They basically traded two role players for an all-star pg

or this:

The Timberwolves send guard Terrell Brandon to the Atlanta Hawks and center Marc Jackson to the Philadelphia 76ers. Atlanta sends forward Glenn Robinson to Philadelphia and receives Brandon. Philadelphia sends forward Keith Van Horn to New York and receives Robinson and Jackson. Finally, New York sends Sprewell to Minnesota and receives Van Horn.

They traded the corpse of Brandon and a backup center for a starting swingman.

Well it depends. The TPE/Carney deal and or Walker/Blount+Davis deal are probably the most lopsided in our favor. But the Jefferson trade could prove to be the most beneficial trade.

Tom Gugliotta for Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell.... wait, nevermind.

I'll go with the trades that brough Cassell and Sprewell here. They came out of nowhere and transformed the team into an instant contender, and were it not for injuries, NBA Champions. They recent trades have looked nice, but lets wait and see.

I went with the Miami trade but would like to give a shout out to Donyell Marshall and his 9yr/43m contract for Tom Gugliotta as honorable mention

Man that one still kinda hurts. What's it been, like ten years?

I agree with others about the Cassell trade since we kind of turned nothing into something. But in the case of Sprewell it was less impressive, because Brandond was retiring and his contract had a lot of value. I guess it just depends on what criteria we use for "best".

I've always considered that Cassell trade the best because it got rid of Joe Smith once and for all.

Spree and Sammy were more fundamental to the team's success, as was the Donyell Marshall-for-Gugliotta deal -- another resounding success.

But in terms of wringing the most out of a resource? Shipping out Ricky Davis and Mark Blount was a big dose of addition by subtraction to start with given where the young roster needed to go. As of this time we still haven't seen what the two first rounders involved might yield. (Yes, two -- this latest trade is another yield of the exception from this one, so for me it "counts.") Its cap consequences, also, were nothing but good.

That trade just keeps on giving.

at the time we first got Marc Jackson for a 2nd, I thought that was enormous.

The Marbury for Brandon plus 6 pick would have been amazing if we had taken Marion that year:)

Ahh hindsight... how I do love thee

my top 3 would be:

Peeler + Smith for Sam I Am and Johnson (a helluva roleplayer for our team - he fitted way better than any of Peeler and Smith would have fitted)

Starbury (a disgruntled star player WANTING to get out) for Brandon (a good pg) PLUS a lottery pick

Davis + Blount for Walker, Simien, Doleac plus 1st rounder

if we can pull a trade that send our 3 time NBA champion team member and 7 time allstar......yes we do have such person....Kevin McHale to cleveland for Lebron that would be a fair deal, the cavs need scoring hall of famer type PF in mchale after gooden left

Getting rid of the poisonous-cancerous Marbury gets my top vote.
We actually got serviceable/all-star caliber players (Wally and Brandon) in return.

I think the Blount/Davis trade is my #2 choice. Only to get rid of more poison.

Without a doubt the rights to Wally Szerbiak plus filler for the #8 (Andre Miller), #11 (Corey Magette), Derek Anderson, and Bobby Sur.........Ooops.

I think the Miami trade of cancers for picks and expirings does it for me.

Smith was, and still is, a very good player.

How many teams were after Mike Miller just about every one of them, Miller and Love others of course that was a good trade and a step forward. Good Job

typical Blazer troll, this time the tactic is to try to win us over with praise, then once he has our confidence he'll tell us about how the Jefferson/Love frontcourt is going to need highchairs to deal with Oden and Aldridge

I'm on to you pal

Oden/Aldrige Vs. Jefferson/Love is gonna be great to watch for years.

Aldrige will rip Jefferson or Love (whoever guards him) on the offensive end, but Oden will pull his hair out trying to stop both Love and Jefferson down the other end.

If Oden is healthy I like the Blazers lineup better, but the two frontcourts do look VERY promising

I chose the cassel and spree trade because it gave us the most successful season in franchise history.
