Hey Everyone, I haven't had a chance to catch the preseason games and only read the box scores.
I was just wondering what the story with Brian Cardinal is. I know he hasn't played. But i was wondering if he is in camp?, is he dressing for the games? Does the team have any plan for him at all, or can i expect him to be in a permanent suit on the sideline this year. Or maybe waived.
I appreciate it if anyone can provide me some info.

Why, do you want him? Please?
We don't know, but his 2-year contract makes him a difficult buy-out. MIN is stacked though with people who can play PF, with Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, Ryan Gomes and Craig Smith probably all in front of him on the depth chart. However, he was at picture day:

Shrink, you arent supposed to tell him his contract is difficult for a buy-out, you are supposed to tell him that Cardinal is on a completely and utterly fair 2 year deal that wouldnt hinder any teams 2010 cap rooms aspirations.

I like having Cardinal on the team. He's a veteran presence that seems to have good knowledge about the game. We need as many of those guys as we can get. He's a very expensive coach. Better than Jaric who didn't do anything except steal minutes from McCants.

I am a pistons fan, and yeah i'd take cardinal as a backup 3 or 4. I'd even pay him that contract. But i'm not a GM lol
Anways just a big Cardinal fan from his days in Purdue and Detroit and Washington and Golden State and Memphis, just trying to see how hes doing

No worries, your first statement made the second one obvious.

Stole in the sense that he outplayed McCants thus forcing the coaches to give Rashad less minutes? Or stole in the sense that he was a worse player than McCants but he tricked the coaches into giving Rashad's minutes to him? Perhaps there is another explanation I haven't thought of...?

"Stole" in that Jaric was a better PG than McCants when Foye and Telfair were injured?
They do different things. McCants is a great scorer, but if your team needs someone to pass the ball and initiate the offense, McCants is not that guy.

Marko started some games with Telfair and the last 2 months of the season w/ Foye. And he didn't outplay anything, Wittman just preferred Jaric's consistent weakness over having to deal w/ McCants. Jaric passes the ball instead of trying to create (not like he has a choice) so Wittman thinks he's a team player.

They didn't even give Cardinal a number? (Doesn't look like he has one in that pic)

If I were Witt, I probably would've chosen to keep McCants on the bench last year too. Horribly inconsistant, except his TOs and Fouls - those were consistant.

They did, its just a bad angle. He's the second ever No. 14 (First being Robert Pack)

I'm a believer in letting talent play through their mistakes, especially on a non-contending team, it's the best way to learn. McCants has also won games with clutch shots. He's too talented to stash on the bench for Marko Jaric.
If he's fouling a bunch, then let him foul out. If he's turning the ball over, then let him find his rhythm with some play calls to get him some catch and shoot opportunities off of screens. I can understand sitting him if you have Jason Richardson, but for Marko Jaric? Hell 2 the nizzo

If Cardinal is healthy this Wolves team could use him.
He is a smart veteran player who can shoot the ball and make a ton of hustle plays. The wolves are very young and could definitely use the leadership out there.
He would be a great compliment to Jefferson and Love as a nice forward to use off the bench for 12-15 minutes a game.
No offense to the mad dog, but Cardinal is the same type of player who can actually shoot, rebound and make a few plays on defense.
