Dec 15, make your prediction

I like gomes as much as the next guy, but I'd like to see what you think the team would get around the deadline. His deal is absurdly good and could prove valuable to a contender needing some help. bring out your crystal ball

I see.....Gomes.....in the Wolves locker room......saying last goodbyes.......to Craig Smith who has been traded.

Id rather keep Gomes than Craigers. I want them both here, but if you put a gun to my head....sorry Cookie

Craig Smith. He also has a terrific deal ($2.5 mil this year, $2.3 mil next season), is a nice, quick low post scorer who isn't afraid to throw his bulk around. Unfortunately, he can only play PF, and his height means he needs a defensive center behind him. That worked OK his rookie year, since KG is such a great help-defender, but right now .. we don't have anyone to fit that description unless you are hopeful about Collins. He would be more valuable on a team where he could pair with a defensive center, and a team that needed more scoring.

I don't believe we signed Craig Smith because we needed him. I think we signed him because his price was too good to pass up. I love the guy, but we'd be helping us AND him if we got him to a team with a better situation for him.

I agree with bruceallen's original premise. I just don't see where the minutes are going to come from for both of these guys for the next two years with Al Jefferson and Kevin Love in front, these two, and Madsen and Cardinal behind them.

yea, if one of them went it would be craig. Gomes can play the 3, but also the 4 in the small ball set up. He is very smart and was likely our 2nd best player last year.

The big difference we need to wonder about is value. Perhaps craig smith could not find a taker in free agency and came back here knowing he would only get limited minutes. If that is the case then maybe he stays and Gomes goes? Or maybe he is fine being in limited time.

The only way Gomes will go is if some of the young guys step up and establish position. What I mean is that Brewer will need to be contributing, but also perhaps Carney? Smith will have had to improve his defense and we will need at least a warm body on the 5 spot.

If I had to bet one thing it would be a package of Carney and perhaps a pick for a legit defensive 5.

Carney for Hibbert?

IN would never do that. I feel like you have to give up an established player for a young big and even then you'd be hard pressed to find a team willing to make the deal. Especially the way Hibby has been beasting so far.

1.) Told you about Hibbert (you being everyone)

2.) I said Carney+pick (we only have 4) for Hibbert. Hibbert would be a good passing, shot blocking 7'4 part of the rotation.

Roy Hibbert vs Chicago: 44% FG, 33% FT, 9 pts, 6 reb, 3 TO, 4 PF
Kevin Love vs Chicago: 63% FG, 10 pts, 8 reb, 0 TO, 2 PF

thats right, Love >>>>>>>>>>>> Hibbert

its time for an NBA nickname

I was mulling it over, and I think :
'Push 'n Shove Kevin Love', then once he loses some weight: 'Rise Above Kevin Love'

I'll get the T-shirts ready

I agree, Hibbert would make a great bench. He looks very sturdy and has a lot of surface area.

Ok guilty as charged. But I still have to make it official. Quick, get me in touch with an attorney specializing in trademark law before Pat Riley reads this thread.

Totally agree with you on Craig Smith. He was too good of an asset to let go.
