http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=t ... &type=lgnsJim Pete mentioned this on last night's broadcast, I don't know exactly what this means, but as the old Roman saying goes: "more power is always good". Or it could be a Hemi saying, I forget.
Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor unanimously was elected Chairman of the NBA Board of Governors, the league announced Thursday.
Taylor replaced Miami Heat owner Micky Arison, who served as chairman for the past three years.

so does Glen Taylor take over Frank Sinatra's nickname as "Chairman of the Board"? or Mao Zedong's nickname as "Chairman Mao" ....the second one will take a little more work

Is he back in Stern's good graces now?

Probably means he missed the last meeting and got voted into the job that nobody else wanted.

Glen is now in a position of power. We now have somebody in David Stern's back pocket. I sense Taylor pulling a Chancellor Palpatine and gaining control of the NBA. Soon, lottery balls will be rolling our way and deals like Gasol for garbage will be a reality. Lebron James is just a season and few scrubs away.

My hope? That with Taylor in charge, he points out that since SEA relocated, the NBA could realign to create more regional match-ups, and MIN moves into the Eastern Conference against MIL and CHI.

We still get to play them -- just not as much.
If we were in the Eastern Conference, I'd be able to tell my Wisconsin friends what I thought of them outside of football season.

You have Wisconsin friends? By choice?

By the time the Wolves move to the East, the power will have shifted and the East will be toughest.

could be true
you got Rose/D12/Beasley in the East
vs Kevin Love/Jefferson in the West
pretty even matchup of elite young talent, but slight edge to the West's best 2 young players on the grounds of Hall of famer > all star

What are his new duties and privileges?

duties including re-stocking the salad bar and privileges include unlimited refills
actually I'm just kidding, those aren't really his duties and privileges, I don't want to confuse people
he presides over their meetings and is the liaison between the board and outside peeps like Stern for example. Doesn't really have any individual power of any significance, the board makes all the decisions as a whole
his privileges include....getting to hold a gavel maybe? Or review the minutes from the last meeting?
I don't know.

Getting to hold a Gavel would be sweet.
