As suspected that play at the end of the OKC game was called

Post#1 » by Calinks » Tue Nov 4, 2008 1:47 am

For those of us who were arguing over whether Shad dropped the ball by not taking that shot or not. Wittman confirmed that he called for that play in the pioneer press today.

Green missed two free throws with 7.1 seconds remaining to give the Wolves one last chance, but Gomes couldn't deliver on a play that Wittman said went exactly as planned except for one thing.

"It didn't go in," he said.

If Shad took the open 3 and missed it, he woulda been right back in the doghouse.

Exactly. I'm sure he wanted to but Wittman isn't the kind of coach you cross like that. If anyone knows this, it's Rashad.

You can tell that play wasn't for Rashad; even before his defender jumped, Shad was looking to hit it to the corner to Gomes. I would rather much have either Miller or Shad taking it(Foye was 0-10), both over 40% 3-pt shooters, but Wittman is still the coach

Its kinda funny. We had three 40% 3 pt shooters out there and Witt draws up a play in the corner for a three for the one guy that isnt.

Can we promote JB yet?

LOL. I guess Witt just thought that Gomes would be left open because the other teams would have expected it to go to Shad or Mike.

WTF is that? Calling plays for Gomes when you got Miller and McCants out there? They should always be the first options with the option to Gomes if they cover. But to call it for Gomes? I'm not feeling that at all.

not that it changes it all but Gomes was the only guy on the court that made a 3pointer that game
