Kevin Garnett finishing his contract with the Boston Celtics, being 36 years old, signs a small contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves and finishes his career where he started.

Yes, I think about this nearly once a day.
You forgot the part where we are good and win the chip that year.

This was talked about a lot back when the deal first happened. I think most people would be on board with that.

In three years, we are more likely to be contending for a ring than BOS. Aging guys on big contracts and being near the back of the first round drafting means to me when 1-2 of these guys fall off, that plane will come crashing down. In the meantime, I still think they are the team to beat.

On the other hand, our young players will be coming into the prime of their careers. We'll have gathered youth, as well as cap space, to be properly positioned for a run. Garnett, even if he loses a step, will still be a 7-foot, smart, great jump-shooting, effective help defender, who is also a terrific passer and rebounder. He'd pair perfectly with Al. He's going to be good for a long time, if he wants to keep putting in that superhuman effort, and his best chance at more rings might be to return home.

it would be very very sweet if it happened but I don't think it will happen because Garnett repeatedly said that he loves the Celtics franchise and hey if he would sign for a MLE-type-of-deal and the C's let the contracts of Allen and/or Pierce expire they'll also have tons of capspace while players like Rondo still have much room to improve.

Then at the same time we'll bring back Sprewell and Marbury somehow. Now that would raise some eyebrows.

Now if only we could somehow get Terrell Brandon some robot legs we'd be in business.

I think this bridge has been burned. KG ain't coming back. Him and McHale were on bad terms when he left.

yep plus Taylor took some bad shots at KG afterwards as well. unless they somehow settle it I highly doubt KG will return.

^ I wish it were the case but common sense says that at least one of them will be here. they won't step down on their own and in Taylor's case I'm actually rather happy if he'd remain the owner for a long time because you never know if this team would be put into a Seattle/OKC-like situation

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
