Randy Foye 9th?

Also, what percentage does Ballboy shoot from behind the arc?

We just need Pre-season Shad to show up and everybody will love him again. He was a beast.

Struggling or not Foye is our best perimeter offensive option after Miller

Gomes 3rd? No. No no no no no. That's one of the things that has gotten us into this mess.

Is it possible to just tank this season and then have the whole team demoted to the D-League? I think we'd have a chance at the play-offs then. Then of course we'd face Chris Richard and he'd drop 35/20 on us.

1. Jefferson
2. Miller
3. Foye
4. Love

McCants is the wildcard, in theory he could be our second or 3rd best scorer, but he continues to take contested shots and circus shots around the hoop. His mid range game is pretty sweet, I'd say he needs to reinvent himself as a Rip Hamilton type that frees himself off of screen instead of iso looks, but he doesn't look comfortable in catch and shoot situations. Too bad because I really like the guy, but his bad habits cancel out the things he does well.

He doesn't play much defense and seems uninterested in doing so. So, other than his midrange game he offers little right now. He will continue to do what he is doing and on those rare nights when those circus shots are falling he will score 20+. Overall I'd rate him behind Jefferson, Love, Miller, Telfair, Brewer, Gomes oh what the hell, just about everyone on the team for positive impact.
I've been a fan since the beginning and I will be until my end.

the strange thing is about McCants is that all of the last 2 years and so far this year, the team defense ranks better with him on the court than off. The difference this year is that the team offense is way worse with him on the court, whereas the previous 2 seasons it was better with him on the court.

in theory, if he breaks out of his offensive slump then he's not just a positive contributor, he's one of the team's best players.

It's dependent on a lot of numbers, but I'm a big believer in in-depth numbers like Hollinger's and 82games, and McCants had our best on/off court rating last year by a big margin, and even with his poor shooting percentages this season, he's grading out ahead of Miller and Brewer.

McCants is a top go-to guy on offense because he is one of few who can create his own shot in the first place. I have no problem with McCants being a go-to guy. I have a problem with McCants taking shots early in the shot clock when the Wolves are up and holding a nice lead. The only time a contested shot should be taken is when the shot clock is winding down.

Last year, Gomes was arguably the most poised 4th quarter guy on the team, and they had success with Al at center and Gomes at PF. This year, its getting them destroyed.

Can someone explain to me what happened?

Foye at 9 is uncanny. Thats just not right. McCants is probably halfway out the door already and he knows it. KG seemed to have his ego under control but since then it just seems like he does what he wants when he wants to. The kid is a winner, and i would love to have him here in the long run but he needs to stop hurting this team with his shot selection and his 1-on-5 mentality, its really killing us.

GS and Phx aren't playing undersized frontcourts anymore, those were our biggest wins last year

Last year, the team was new. There was little to scout on an Al/Ryan front court. Now, the word is out. Gomes is easily bullied by players bigger than him. Not a lot he can do about that. He should be coming off the bench at 3 and see little/no time at 4. We'll see if it happens.

Agreed. He's an asset at SF and liability at PF.

I agree with posters that have said McCants should be more willing to pass the ball earlier in the clock, but I can't blame him too much for all the shooting. He is probably the #2 scorer on the team (maybe Miller now), and his role as sixth man is to provide instant offense. Its frustrating when he misses his shots, but I think a good chunk of his role is to take those shots. I just don't like him taking bad looks early in the shotclock.

Exactly. I want McCants taking shots, that's his game. But when you're taking contested jumpers or difficult layups with 15 left on the shot clock, it's irresponsible, and also hurts the defense because a lot of times it'll lead to a break the other way.

alright, move Foye to 3rd and Love 4th and drop everyone else by 1 spot seems logical, but i really dont want to see McCants being top options anymore

true, he can create his own shot, but he tends to do that when its not neccessary and our other scoring option (Jefferson) is wide open

Elementry Watson...Foye, Mcants, Brewer, Love need to be starting and played 40 minutes, That is the future let them play together for a month not jerking their chain every time an error is made, it really ruins the flow Basketball is all about flow. Trade Jefferson for Horford, Give Avery 6 or 7 mil.
Avery can relate with players in a way Whitt can never do, Foye would be a big benefactor. Averys has a championship, worked with the best coaches and is a good guy. Problem bringing in a staff in the middle of a season is.....JVG hasent done anything, Houston fired him and look this year.
Coaches have to be able to get thru to players, they cant tell them they play like grade schoolers...No wonder they are all walking around with there heads hung low. Any of the above players could be go to guys. Horford plays defense and hasent been screwed up yet. In fact doubt the Hawks would trade AJ for Horford.
