Diehards only: Fire Wittman Chant on Saturday
If you arent going: go. Fernandez is a fricken ballerina. Plus Oden, and Brandon "Didnt need him" Roy.
But if the momentum starts to shift, it's time to do a crowd wide Fire Wittman chant. I usually am not TOO obnoxious at these games, but now is the time to embarrass myself for the sake of the team. I WILL start one. If you are going, encourage those and those around you to join in. Lets send a message to the state of Minnesota that this guy and his pathetic ability to coach this team is beyond unacceptable.

OK, I admit I'm kind of a buzzkill, but that seems rude.
Where do you work? Can I start a "Fire WallyWorld!" for you at your workplace?
I'm sure that McHale and Taylor's decision isn't going to be changed by this chant.

If WallyWorld serves $1 fries at Center and $1 Drink at PF and has the BigMac and 1/4 Pounder sit out during lunch time then yes, you are more than welcome to start a Fire WallyWorld chant at his work
*Obviously not saying WW works at McD's and in no way is intended to belittle him.

I may have taken years, but persistance by Detroit Lions fans finally got Matt Millen canned.

That wouldn't be rude. That is part of sports. Will it get him fired, probably not, but that is how fans send a message. That is how fans use their voice as a part of the organization. I could be wrong but I doubt wallyworld gets paid millions of dollars to do his job poorly. If he does I will go with you and chant fire wallyworld where he works.

Shrink, always effectively playing the Devils Advocate card. And in this case, a little buzzkill too
.
While I understand my post came off with about as much intelligence as a 14 year old KFAN Rube, I do stand strong with just trying to stir up a little fun and controversy. With this situation I produce a few schools of thought. It's almost 4 and work is slow (ya know, not many people coming in for Big Macs during the late afternoon...
), so Im going to draw this one out.
The NBA and sports is a fan's game. Arenas get rowdy, and fans DO at times come out of their shell in interesting ways. Therefore, if we are unsatisfied with things at games, we will let people know about it. Were not sitting in an AMC watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Games are most fun when people are loud and rowdy, thats the whole point.
Lets remember I have posted here for 7.5 years (and trust me, though my topic may have as much intelligence as a 7.5 year old, I didnt start typing from the womb). I'm not trying to be an immature Rube. I know McHale is not going fire him. I'd say this has about as much chance of an impact as these ridiculous Fire McHale PETITIONS that pop up every few months.
To address Shrink's pole-in-the-butt comment (no offense, but lighten up), let me just say this. Say I am an accountant and I am handling the books of a multi-million dollar company. I periodically make basic formula mistakes and constantly produce incorrect results. Though I wouldnt expect someone to come in and shout "Fire WW," I certainly would expect to eventually be held accountable for those mistakes. For the sake of redundancy, lets NOT continue discussing this analogy.
I may not be the ultimate student of the game or know how to instill a triangle offense to a group of 5th graders, but any layman would be able to tell the difference between what the Wolves do on offense and that, say, the Blazers do. Its apples to oranges. Its not like Im implying this out of sheer lack of basketball intelligence here.
So therefore, if you just want to have a little fun on a Saturday night and maybe stir up some discussion amongst Hanny and JPete, go beyond the message boards and just have a good time and chant if it feels right. Screw Minnesota Nice.

won't accomplish anything except make the suburban teens in the audience feel awkward
Millen got fired because Bill Ford Jr said he'd fire him if he could. 2 days later his dad acquiesced to Jr in acquiescing fashion. Fans had nothing to do with it, they'd been calling for years.
So the media will need to continuously interview Glen Taylor's sons if you want him fired. Actually, I don't think he has any children, if I recall he was neutered in a horrible printing press accident.

Re: Diehards only: Fire Wittman Chant on Saturday
I'm glad WW you didn't take my post too seriously. Its just for the sake of discussion on a discussion board.
First, I agree with everyone that I just can't think it would matter. I can't see McHale going, "Hey, What's that they're saying? Fire Wittman? Wow -- you know, that never really crossed my mind! You know, I've always really cared about what the fans think of me and the team, so I think I'm going to go with the fans idea, and run with it!"
Second, if you're the accountant that's bad at the job, you eventually get fired. You and Wittman have bosses. If I'm given a small fries when I paid for a large, I can talk to the employee or the manager (I suppose in this case, I'd email the timberwolves or sign a petition), but I wouldn't try to get all the people in McDonald's to chant "Fire Stephanie! Fire Stephanie!"
Third, I was being a bit of a devil's advocate here. I know I'm not going to be involved in a "Fire anyone!" chant, but I don't know if I oppose it. WW's right that this is entertainment, and maybe that's how some people are entertained. We are talking about someone's real job though, even if its an NBA job, and I don't think as a fan I know enough about the whole thing to make the firing decisions. Is he a good coach in practice? Are the kids learning anything? Does he follow the instructions of his superiors? Where are those photos he'll release of Glen Taylor and a vicuna if he gets fired? This is all information I don't have. But to get back to the point, maybe if you buy a ticket to a Wolves game, you're entitled to do whatever you want? that kind of goes along with my liber(con)trarian nature. ::shrug::

Re: Diehards only: Fire Wittman Chant on Saturday
Everyone knows that I am no Wittman fan but I am not at the point to where I want to chant this yet. However an arena wide chant such as this can do some good. Yea, Witt will probably not get fired. but this could send a message. There would be more pressure for him to do better. I think all the crap that Brad Childress got this season actually made him a better coach. he finally started trying to open crap up.

I'm sure after hearing all 5 of you, the Wolves front office will have to take immediate action. LOL

If we also throw "and mchale" at the end of it, then i'm game.
and cal, one thing that Childress does not use is the screen to AD!! why in the hell does he not try this? Its Adrian Peterson!

Shrink. This is sports. Major difference
This is exactly why I called Fred Hoiberg this week to discuss how things were going. And at about the time I made my rant on here, lo and behold I get a voicemail from him at work. We discussed a few things about how the season was going, and I made my feelings about Wittman pretty clear in my line of questioning. He really danced around everything in his answers, so unfortunately I dont have too much to report from that standpoint. Seems like he agreed with my points about Witt just given his tone/lack of clear answers, but what else would you expect?
Lets not get too far off track though! This is a good thread so far!

While I fully endorse a fire Wittman chant at every game home and away game, I think you'll have a hard time getting anyone in Minnesota to do anything. We have some of the most boring basketball fans on Earth in this state. This isnt NY, BOS, Seattle, Golden State, etc.
