I think there's something about Wolves players in their 2nd year. Love won't make it through next season. Probably due to a blocked artery.

one last glimpse of hope: the author said we'll play in Charlotte tonight to play the Hornets. is it just a typo or can I remotely hope this is hoax?

This was out of the blue. Guess he won't be headed to Charlotte.

OK, its time for Mr. Upside.

First, this means to me that we won't be trading Brewer. We value him more than other teams already because we base it on hope, and see flashes of defense when other teams look for scoring stats. But if we are hoping for value, the injury makes that gap even larger -- we could never get back what we wanted. Other teams will see him as a throw-in, so we might as well keep him.

Second, I for one, want to see Carney and McCants get more playing time. I don't know if we have anything in Carney, who we didn't extend, and McCants value will probably go up with minutes. People forget he was our #2 scorer last year at 15 PPG, and many have written him off, lumped in as just another egotistical young scorer. Personally, I think the issue is between Wittman and McCants, since McCants apparently worked harder on defense under Casey. Moreover, these ego-kids don't show the work ethic McCants does. Even if we can't keep him, if he gets some minutes he'll have some games in the 20's, and it'd raise his trade value.

Bad news, of course, that Brewer has the injury. What is it with Year 2 and our lottery picks -- McCants, Foye, and now Brewer all went down. However, MIN is actually fairly deep at swingman, and we have guys that need minutes. This won't hurt us as badly as an injury elsewhere could have.

I agree with your upsides shrink. I would add that it will force Wittman to play Gomes at SF and not PF. Maybe McCants will get some big minutes and blow up against Charlotte, causing them to rethink the Wallace trade.

Biggest downside (other than Brew's health) is the hit on defense.

Didn't Mike Jordan miss the majority of his 2nd year with injury? I keep picturing the Wolves in black hoods performing some ritual in homage to Jordan that looks like that scene out of Misery.

Now I am picturing Brewer getting hit in the leg with a sledgehammer by Kathy Bates.

Now we will see just how much Wittman dislikes McCants.

Crap..Crap...Crap..

Srsly, 2nd yr players are cursed. Why is that?

Gomes will get more minutes at the 3 and Miller more at the 2. Brewer's minutes wont be an issue. We still need a big, we will just have less excitement.

I am pissed. I like Brewer.

me too, I want to see Carney and McCants - that was a lob to Wittman: "now you HAVE to play McCants and Carney". I should've italicized "have" for emphasis. Or else underlined it. Or just capitalized it like I did above. Or maybe now we'll see Kevin Ollie take all Brewer's minutes at SG and Wittman will laugh like "bitches, I got you again, you will never defeat me" and we'll shake our fists at him in vain

That sucks the injury didn't look that bad when it happened. Hopefully he'll be able to use this time to gain some weight. I figured it was going to happen eventually the kid is tough but his body isn't NBA ready.

Man this is going to destroy me in 2k9.

Corey will hopefully use the free time to sculpt his guns and continue to hone that J. Do that and it'll all be worth it. When one door closes, another one opens. Feel the inspiration Corey Brewer, feel it.

You can't really work on the J with a torn ACL.

I don't know, I figure at some point after the surgery he'd be approved to shoot. I'd guess it'd be long before he's approved to run and cut
