Sam Michell Fired

Post#1 » by Krapinsky » Wed Dec 3, 2008 10:31 pm

I had the chance to meet him once and he seemed like a nice guy. (He came to one of my basketball practices when I was like 13). Should we bring him back???? And if so, as a head coach or as an assistant?

Raps fans will celebrate for a couple weeks until they see no improvement under the next coach

That sucks, I was hoping he'd be able to get things going there, but I did expect them to be doing a little better than 8-9 to this point. Just seems so early for this? Did the players quit on him?

Good, he's still under contract with us, isn't he? Suit up Sam!

Ya that just doesn't seem right. I think we give Wittman a few more weeks and if there isn't noticable improvement we can him. I mean you can blame players for being selfish, not executing the game plan and such, but in the end it all comes back to the coach.

bring sam in as an assistant. I would be happy with him as a coach and his presence as an assistant will either make rsw sink or swim.

LOL! That's great! You're right, we still have rights to him as a player. If you remember the trade of the retired Van Horn, it was exactly the same thing. Sam's attitude would be perfect for the kids.

According to David Aldridge:

"One area of conflict was the development of forward Andrea Bargnani, whom Colangelo chose first overall in the 2006 draft. Colangelo had to press Mitchell to play the rookie the following season. Mitchell said that he couldn't reward Bargnani with minutes while he struggled with his defense, but Colangelo and Mitchell ultimately reached a kind of agreement."

Uh oh. Guess he wouldn't be able to coach here he'd have no one to play.

He would make a great assistant here, though not sure how he would feel about playing second fiddle on the bench to Wittman. Sam is a great motivator and mentor, not sure on his X's and O's though....
