ESPN 2009 Lottery Mock Draft

Did Chad Ford put it out there this early because he watched the SAC game, felt sorry for Wolves fans, and wanted to give them something to look forward to?

Enjoy plenty of of wasteful hours playing with your lottery balls .. I know I will.

Incidentally, Chad Ford thinks our draft order is:

Blake Griffin
Hasheem Thabeet
Ricky Rubio
Stephen Curry

Kinda scares me. We don't need another little guard. I love watching Curry in college, but he'd be horrible for the Wolves. We need size(Thabeet) or a number one scoring threat from the wings(Derozan), or the BPA if it's someone else, but no more trading for the guy we want plus a couple bucks and a Big Mac coupon.

Sorry -- I don't read the College thread .. I probably should have looked there first.

Rev - if you want to lock this one, that's fine with me.

I was just ribbing you man. This is better anyway, more people will see it.

I 'm having the hardest time getting this thing to come up Rubio for the Wolves. I'd be really interested to see what the Wolves would do if they got the #1 pick. Is Griffin to good to pass on? If so, what do you do with that logjam?

He gave us Griffin with #1 (I got it once). As I said in PeeDee's thread, I'm not sure I would take Thabeet over Rubio and Harden at this point but not too bad for being this early.

Yep, I did too. It took a lot of looks to find a team that would pick Thabeet front of us if Rubio was on the board. Personally, I think that Chris Ford looks to much at filling needs, and not enough at "best player available" early in the lottery, so it concerns me that we'd pass on Rubio when so many teams (according to Ford), think he has the greater trade value. Then again, most would say that McHale doesn't have good luck trading down in the lottery, so maybe we better draft who we want to stick with.

BTW, it was impossible to see who was #5, because for us to get #5, OKC has to get #4, and they picked someone not in our top 4, leaving Curry for us.

It's waaay too premature for this. Curry, Jennings, and Holiday over Harden seems ridiculous to me.

i'm high on Thabeet, he fits in multiple needs of this team

more youth movement, shot blocker on the weakside of Jefferson, more than a 7 footer with his great size, and lots potential yet to be discovered, he could be a 15-15 guy every game

Chad Ford has nothing on Devilz when it comes to knowing who the Wolves should go with. Who is it this year?

couple quick facts b4 I ignore the draft.

--I am hearin that rubio likely does not come out.

--thabeast is incredibly over rated.

--de-overrated usc wanna be vince carter has miles to improve before he is a starter.

--hardin is going to be a smooth pro prospect.

--this draft is very weak.

--the wolves bastardly need to improve the 3 and 1. if u feel brewer owns one of those spots then u need another dominant wing. pray we get hardin. say what u want about love jefferson or foye but the 1 and 3 are broke.

if wolves get the number 1 pick ,you have to take Griffin he is easily the best player in this draft
the more great propects u get the better superstar you will get from a rebuilding team

--this draft is very weak.

didnt people say the same thing about this years?????
and i bet no one exspected rose or mayo or some of the other rookies to come out and score as big as they have
teams supporting
NBA-Minnesota t-wolves
NHL-Toronto Mapleleafs
NFL-Miami Dolphins
MLB-???

This draft is incredibly weak in part because this freshman class doesn't have the star power the last couple did (or at least the top players aren't playing very well). I've seen Derozan and Mullens play a couple times each and have come away not so impressed, they have time to turn it around but watching Beasley and Rose at thim time last year you couple tell they were absolute studs.

Harden is way too low on Ford's mock. He is a lot like Mayo. He's a good but not great athlete, a little undersized for the 2, but he can shoot it and he really knows how to score AND how to play. Thabeet is Thabeet, best case is Mutumbo, worst cast is Pryzbilla. To me Griffin, Rubio, Harden and Rubio are the top four (maybe Jennings in there too, haven't seen enough of him to know). If we we go small with our pick (Rubio, Curry, Derozan, Holliday, Jennings, etc.), would anyone be uspet if we took the local kid Aldrich with the Heat pick? He might be a nice defensive compliment to Love and Al.

Last year's freshmen's were some of the highest regarded in a while. There were big names all over that class.

Oh, and I had to play this 7 times before I got the first pick. And I got 4th or 5th four times. This thing is so real, it's crazy.

I found out who was #5 on Chad's board for us... Brandon Jennings.

SAC- Griffin
GS- Rubio
NYK- Curry
OKC- Thabeet
MN- Jennings

Kinda dumb to think the Wolves would leave Harden on the board. Though, I wouldn't mind getting an elite PG. We need the Stockton to Big Al's Malone. (Not that Al is up to Malone's standard at this point, but I hope.)
