... in OREB's/48 min! Well done, young Love.

And nice to see you in front of Oden, Rudy Fernandez and Beasley in CNN's latest rookie ranking.

I guess six straight games with 10-15 RB's isn't going completely unnoticed.

Yeah, according to basketball-reference he's number one in offensive rebounding percentage and fourth overall in offensive rebounding.

Nice job, Love.

What percentage of them do you think are from his own missed putbacks?

LOL.

I'd trade Love in a heart beat for Oden and Beasley.

Actually some people do on this site. Although nice going for Kevin Love regardless, he's an excellent rebounder.

I like rebounds, but I want to see him in the high post as the centerpoint of the offense, canning jumpers, and beating his man off the dribble.

It would be nicer if those offensive rebounds didn't usually result in a missed layup or a blocked shot.

Maybe you would. But the real question is would you trade him for Mayo?

First I'm not a real American because I didn't vote for McCain. Now I'm not a real Timberwolves fan because I wouldn't vote for Mayo. I guess I just suck.

What does Love bring that is a significant upgrade to what we already have? I can tell you that Mayo would be a significant upgrade to what we have in our backcourt.

I think I agree with Zeitgeister - to me Love is a misplaced piece on a wolves team that desperately needs help everywhere. Mayo would be a serious upgrade for a troubled backcourt. Love isn't going to get bigger or faster, his improvement will be incremental I suspect. Do you really think he has untapped potential we haven't seen yet or based simply on what the two players have shown do you prefer a good rebounder to a scoring/passing guard?

Note: Your answer will not disqualify you as a patriotic American or a wolves fan.

My long-winded answer:

I was firmly entrenched in the Mayo camp pre-draft. I thought Mayo-Foye would be a dynamic backcourt and, really, my opinion on that hasn’t changed (though I have less confidence in Foye than I had 6 months ago). So I do like Mayo and the GM in me would probably prefer to have him on the team.

The fan in me prefers Love, though. I’m not sure exactly why but he has just grown on me. He’s a much better rebounder than I expected. He’s also a hustle player and shows an aggressiveness that is lacking in most of the players on this team – in a way he is what Madsen would be if Madsen actually had any talent. Although he hasn’t shown it much so far, he does have a good jumpshot (of course we could say the same thing about McCants, Foye, and Miller this year, too). He also has a wicked outlet pass. With his rebounding and passing he can be a phenomenal fast break starter if we could get the right players around him. I also think he has the ability to be a good defender. Yes he lacks athleticism and lateral quickness but I think he is a smart player and can learn to anticipate to make up for his quickness. Love may never be a 20/10 player (though it is too early to say that) and Mayo may turn out to be Kobe Bryant but I personally prefer players like Love.

I do agree that a scoring/passing 2 would fit better on this team than another PF.
Actually, if I were able to do a do-over, I would keep Roy and still do the Mayo-Love trade. Roy-Love > Foye-Mayo.

I can certainly see where you are coming from, though I have to admit I don't agree. As far as I can tell, Love is not better than Madsen right now. He's a better rebounder and almost by default a better scorer, but his defense is much worse than Madsen's. He also isn't as knowledgeable about the game as Madsen is yet. On balance, the two players are equal right now. I don't expect many too agree with this assessment, but there it is.
