It's Official, We Lost The Roy/Foye Trade
52 points tonight for Roy and 0 turnovers.
Its not that I'm giving up on Foye, its just that I've accepted the fact that Randy Foye is not very good. It's not all his fault though, he was forced to believe he could be something he isn't. Instead, if they just let him be himself and play his own game, he'd be more successful.
I wouldn't feel so bad about the trade if we had gotten an extra first rounder in the future or something, but we didn't get any additional assets (unless you consider padding Glen Taylor's wallet an asset).

I'll bet if we hadn't made the trade we'd still be in exactly the same position with Roy battling it out for us, brainwashed by our forces of evil.

How does Kevin McHale still have a job?

Glen Taylor is too Minnesota Nice to let him go.

I wouldn't doubt that. However Roy plays the game at a different speed. Randy Foye plays the game at two speeds, confused, and the speed and motion at which a manual transmission car goes when someone who doesn't know how to drive stick is driving it. He makes sudden bursts of speed, but suddenly jerks to a stop.

Re: It's Official, We Lost The Roy/Foye Trade
I guess I've been living in denial last season but now in hindsight yeah Roy is at least 2 levels above Foye. and as TF21 I'm not giving up on Foye since he's shown some talent but it's the inconsistency he's displaying that bugs me the most. oh and considering that Roy is one of the best clutch players in the entire league he's taking away the last asset that Foye was supposed to be at least as good as Roy or even better at; crunch time play. when was the last time we saw 4th quarter Foye in action??
but I'd say that if we kept Roy he'd be better than Foye anyway because he's not inconsistent.

Re: It's Official, We Lost The Roy/Foye Trade
Only thing that I could rebutal is that Foye had the knee injury, the multiple crappy coaches and the current team that wont develop him. Roy has a great coach and a team that lets him play. He is a better player now, but if you reverse them it might be different.

I think we lose every trade just by being us. Putting the blame on Cassell and Saunders and trading/firing them just cursed the hell out of the franchise. Ever since then everything we touch turns to doo doo.
The only way to undo it is to re-hire Flip as head coach and make Cassell his lead assistant.

Re: It's Official, We Lost The Roy/Foye Trade
Yea, we lost this trade a few months into the 2006 season. Just another one of McFail's horrible moves. Every time we make a draft day deal it's a bad thing. It's funny too because the scouting reports on some of the guys we get seem great but as soon as we touch them they lose all of that.
I do think we are somewhat responsible as an organization for poorly developing players. For the last 3 or so years it seemed like we never know how put anyone in the best position to be successful. We would probably be playing Roy at SF and forcing him to be a defensive stopper.
Our organization is just full of idiots. Still as the TF said, I don't blame Foye for this. Kid has worked hard. The last 3 games he has put himself into a big rut and he needs to get out of it. As long s he can get back to scoring efficiently he is still a god piece to a club and we need him to be the best that he can be, even if that just means he's a 15 PPG SG. Too many people are blaming him for this team's current position, he doesn't deserve all the blame alone.

I agree with the people saying it's been official for a long time. Now, what we need to do is worry about what we HAVE not what we could have. We have Randy Foye, so let's deal with it and make the best out of it.

Yea. I'm on the same page as you man. Too many of my friends are worried about what we don't have. yea, it sucks but I am tired of hearing people cry about it every chance they get. You can't go around worrying about what somebody else has got. Handle your own business.

Wow.
I could've told you this back in June of 06.
This deal is a franchise derailer for a long time. I guarantee we'd have Garnett still if we held onto Roy.

It's a nice thought, but the Cubs made peace with the billy goat and went public it wasn't Bartman's fault and it hasn't worked.
