Channing Frye

Post#1 » by big3_8_19_21 » Mon Dec 22, 2008 2:04 am

Anyone else think he would be worth picking up next summer? He's a totally different look from all of our bigs now, he's got length and he shouldn't be too expensive. I'm betting that Portland won't give him a qualifying offer, because no one wants to pay $4.25 mil to someone averaging 13 mpg. He's not the greatest defender, though, which is already an issue on this team.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

I wouldn't mind him at all if he weren't as soft as charmin tissue paper and yet another PF/C tweener. we need real big that are 7+ feet tall

Unfortunately he needs to start to be productive.
Last year he started along side Aldridge, when Przy went out, and he was a beast on the glass and was hitting his jumper. But he is not good to come in and play spot minutes.

if he can spread the floor w/ his jumper he'd be a nice pickup

I was thinking too about, possibly using the Boston pick in a trade for him since we're going to sell it anyways and there's not bigs in that range as good as Frye

If they did it for the Boston pick I would sign on.

Frye can be aggressive and block/rebound but most of the time he avoids that part of the game. he is a back-up, but a decent one. You know he would get up for the portland games also.

Maybe he's about to zip a pass to someone?
