Sean Williams

I know he's been discussed in possible trades on the wolves board a lot, but now seems as good a time as any. He hasn't played a game for almost two weeks as the nets have gone with Lopez and Boone at centre. If we dangle McCants at them they might wanna give him a second chance, and he could be a decent back up for Carter with a fresh start.
Williams isn't quite a 7 footer or a true centre, and he's struggled this season, but he gives us some much needed low post defense. This season couldn't get any worse so I think we should be open to anything at the moment. Especially if we're getting rid of McCants in the process.

We'd be lucky to get him for McCants.

but what could NJ ask for if they don't play Williams either? whenever he plays he just commits stupid fouls limiting his time on the court to a maximum of 10 minutes. usually my roommate lets me know whenever Sean Williams had a good game (for his standard) but I can't recall my roommate telling me about a good game. I think we should try to get him with McCants + BOS 1st or with Gomes or if possible even send Telfair that he's close to his home.

That's the right place to look, but I don't think Sean Williams would cost more than McCants. With McCants, they could still hope he comes around in a different situation. Williams has no opportunity at all. I thought it was interesting that Williams and McCants under Wittman both rushed out and committed stupid fouls.

I watch the Nets a lot. He's NOT low post defender. He's just a great athlete that gambles a lot on defense. He would probably be an upgrade over any of our bigs defensively though.

I don't really post often, but whenever a thread on Sean Williams starts, I have to throw in my two cents.
I love Sean Williams and he brings athleticism to the court, something that the Wolves have been lacking, especially with the departure of Brewer. So far, really, the most athletic player on this team is Carney, and he isn't having much of an impact playing eight minutes a game.
Sean Williams is a low-risk/high reward player who could back up the 4 and 5. From all the times I've seen him play, he's a better team defender than man defender, but at this point, I'd like to imagine most Wolves fans would love to see ANY defense. This team needs all the defense it can get.
I traded Gomes for Williams and a 2nd in 2K8 and loved the trade, but that's when I had Gay (from another trade) and Brewer controlling the 3. It's probably not a good idea to trade the only true 3 on the team.
Regardless, his price tag might be a low since he barely gets any burn in Jersey.

damn I just thought about the fact that their GM is Rod Thorn and he is usually on the better on the deals he does. so set the bar low and start with McCants and/or Telfair.

He seems like another PF/C hybrid. Unless he can really play center, I want nothing to do with another hybrid.

He's not a dominant low post defender, but he's certainly solid, and he's a gamechanging shot blocker. He really needs PT more than anything IMO, he has to work through some mistakes. He has a lot of untapped talent on both sides of the ball.

Hey, No-KG-AI
Is that Metropolis Illinois in your avatar?
Never been there, but if I was mayor, I'd build a statue like that.
