McHale is a dumb-a-s-s

Fire this clown already.
This is from the Star Trib:
Remember him?
The Wolves chose Ollie over rookie guard Blake Ahearn when they made their final roster cuts in October. Ahearn played three games with the Spurs when both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili were injured and now is back in the NBA Development League with the Dakota Wizards.
McHale said there's definitely a place in the NBA for Ahearn, with the right team.
"People forget that Steve Kerr and John Paxson and those guys, they had to have a home," McHale said. "When they were out wandering in the desert, things didn't go well for them. Blake can shoot the ball. There's a spot for him, but it's got to be on an established team where he can do what he really does well, which is shoot and spread the floor."
Parting words
When asked if, given how much the veteran guard has played so far, choosing Ollie over Ahearn was the right decision, McHale popped a piece of gum in his mouth, rolled his eyes and said, "Oh, hell, I don't know."

Well, its nice to see that people starting these threads are at least finding new things to complain about.
Ollie started for us last night, but at this point, I'd rather toast the season and take a look at Ahearn. Ollie probably has a small amount of trade value as filler in a deal with a vet contender.

What? McHale is plenty rippable, but who gives an eff about Blake Ahearn?

Its not that, it was his answer to the question of "Was Ollie the better decision". Its not the biggest reason to complain, but that was a pretty crappy answer. Its like he doesnt give a damn.

That's what I got out of it too.
Trade Ollie to Charlotte for a 2nd round pick, sign Ahearn and move forward with the pups getting the playing time. We've lost like 78 games in a row. No sense in salvaging anything at this point.

I wanted Ollie over Ahearn and still believe it was the better decision

I know this is true, and it bugs me I don't have a way to quantify it in a speadsheet. I don't even care about 82games.com 5-man analysis and +/-. I want Ollie to make them better (or more confident?) players for 2009. How do you measure something like that?

Ollie/ Ahearn McHale gotta know it's not a difference maker...A moot point, It would be nice to start & play Carney tho to see what he is about. Timberwolves have alot of clout right now and can make some big moves he has freed them up alot from contracts. There are some very good ideas here on how to go forward. Williams seems doable Draft picks and moveable contracts I look to Big changes.

My Guess...He has evaulated this team and has his eye's on the Bigger Picture. Hence popping in a piece of gum and the comment.

I see that the Timberpups have won 1 in a row.
Maybe McFail is the answer to who's the best coach for them.

With respect, Vindicator, that's the kind of thinking that got this franchise in trouble in the first place. Bringing someone in "because they've been a Wolf" is the worst kind of managerial logic.
I loved Sam as a player, and I'd welcome him back as a coach
if he's the best candidate available. And he might be - I think the guy can coach. I just hate when fans give players, coaches or GMs points for being from the city he's being asked to work in. That doesn't matter - Rick Rickert failed in the NBA because he's not a very good player, not because he didn't get to play professionally in his home state (oh wait...)

Yeah, I don't think that Sam Mitchell would be the best option for this team right now. We need a coach who can manage the ego of McCants, be willing to sit players down for stupid plays (but don't get too down on them like Wittman), and stress defense. Flip Saunders would be a pretty good option in my opinion. The feud wasn't between Flip and Taylor, it was between Flip and McHale. From what I've heard, McHale will most likely be gone after this season.
How do you think Trent Tucker would work out as our coach? How about Newman or Budenholzer from San Antonio? I think it would be most wise to go after an assistant coach from a successful organization in the NBA because getting a head coach from college ball doesn't work out well very often.

first key is a new gm who can cast a vision and bring in the coach to grow with.
about the comment...it is just a short answer. likely he explained more but even if he did not who cares. it is a stupid question. if blake was doing anything then maybe it is a servicable question but he is not.
if u want to rip mchale then rip the love logic.

Would the right guy for the GM spot be Jerry West? Some people have been saying that Fred Hoiberg would be a possible candidate, and I don't want him at all. He just seems like an accomplice and continuation of McHale, but he could also bring a new vision to this organization (but to me that just seems unlikely).

Mitchell being from Minnesota background gives him a tick in my books, its not the deciding factor, that would be the fact that Sam can actually coach. But having roots in the local community i stillgood
