I think it's time

This team has been very disappointing to say the least. Even if we see improvement from our young players I don't feel confident that the team as constructed (even with draft picks) is designed to be competative. But either way I'll still cheer for them night in and night out.
Ideally I think it’s time to blow the wolves up almost completely. I believe the wolves need to focus on defense and becoming a competent team again. Here is how I would do it. (I am basing the availibility of Chandler and Wallace off previous topics on this forum.)
Hire Dennis Lindsey to be GM. He is the assistant GM of the spurs and we all know what kind of sustained success they have had.
Hire Tom Thibodeau to coach. His teams are outstanding at defense, and he actually does have ties to the Timberwolves. I don’t like the idea of bringing guys in from the past, but I think Thibodeau has been gone long enough to be considered fresh blood.
Make two trades:
Love/Gomes/Collins
For
Tyson Chandler and Julian Wright
McCants/Carney/Miller/Ollie/MIA’s 1st round pick (McCants, Carney and Ollie all expire at end of the year)
For
Wallace/Felton/Brown
Draft the best overall player with our pick.
PG: Felton/Telfair
SG: Foye/Brown/(Brewer)
SF: Wallace/Wright/(Brewer)
PF: Jefferson/Smith
C: Chandler/Madsen
That line up could be outstanding defensively. At least we can be great at one thing rather than being merely good at scoring and horrible on defense.

it looks great, except I don't think the other teams would accept your trades:
if Love/Jefferson is questionable defensively, then what does that make Love/David West?
Gerald Wallace is shooting like 60% since the Diaw trade. They might like to move Felton, but I don't think they're eager to dump Wallace.

couple things..
1..I agree with lindsay. canis wrote a good piece on him.
2..the point of a good gm is for them to pick coaches and players. tt is a good prospect but let lindsay pick
3..we should not move love. we should develop him and grow around him. we should not move him. let alone for overpaid role players.

We just got done blowing the team up. We need to dismantle the front office and let someone else run this organization. We are still young and salvageable we just need to make a move asap.

This is a rebuilding process and I think some people are expecting too much too early. We aren't even 2 years into our rebuild we can't just give up. Rebuilding can be short ala the Celtics, or a very long process ala the Hawks. The key is to find the right combination of talented young guys who start reaching their potential and also a few vets who know how to win. We do not need to blow up our team this early in the rebuilding process. I am, however, ready to give up on Mccants and possibly telfair and would be willing to trade Craig Smith, Mccants, Telfair, or any of our non-young guys like Collins, Cardinal, etc. for the right price.

It's pretty crazy all the people that are expecting instant results with such a young team. We have one player that would be a consensus starter on other teams at this point... of course we are going to suck. Rebuilding takes time.
You could even consider the Celtics' rebuild to take a long time, they sucked for a number of years before they accumulated enough assets to make the trades that they did.

Just dont see the whole Felton love...Westbrook looks tons and tons better, Did see a trade involving Jason Terry and thats an interesting choice as well a solid vet to run things Timberwolves are going to need someone to take control. Felton for me is a stretch.

Felton would be ideal as a third guard, in the combo role, or playing next to a big guard who can distribute the ball and handles it a bulk of the time. Obviously these guys are all differing talent levels, but next to someone like Jaric, Wade, Roy, Kobe, LeBron, or Mayo.
I don't understand what the big deal with Westbrook is either. He's a good defensive player, but I've seen reports out of TFKAS that he's struggling with point guard dutires and getting guys the ball in the right spot. We already have someone like that offensively in Foye.

Well Russell and Love have history that might be helpfull, but I dont see him as a Foye reprodeji Westbrook has afterburners and can jump out of the gym. Glad his value is low for now. They are ready for picking.

Outside of Al I don't think we're close to having any of this.

foye might be on the cusp. not yet but moving there. I could see brewer being a better outlaw but that takes time. same with love.
those 4 could be keepers. but portland has depth coach and front office.

Brewer needs to add balls and muscle to his resume before we can call him a player like Outlaw.
